Introducing Aspen House, Val d’Isere

Thu May 09, 2019

Aspen Lodge has been our home in Val d’Isere for the past 20 years. Countless guests have set out on their first day’s skiing with a friendly “good luck” from the ever-smiling concierge staff. Each suite holds countless treasured memories for loyal guests – over the last few years we’ve even hired chalet hosts who stayed in Aspen Lodge for the first time as young children.

Over time the building has grown a little tired. The central location has become noisier as Val d’Isere has grown and the distance from bedroom to piste was no longer short enough for our most discerning guests. Consequently, it’s with great pleasure that we’ve announced a new venture in Val d’Isere: Aspen House.

Val d'Isere opened it's slopes this weekend

Mon November 26, 2018

Val d’Isere opened for the season on Saturday 24th November, right on schedule and with a tantalizing amount of snow at altitude. The VIP SKI Sales Team spent the weekend drooling over photos of fresh tracks, shiny new lifts and blue skies. Our winter staff are in their chalets and reports of snow are coming in thick and fast. Before we know it the ski season will be in full swing – we can’t wait!

Can you improve on perfection? Those in charge in Val d’Isere are certainly trying. There are a raft of upgrades both planned and ongoing within the resort, keeping it up there as the best ski resort in the world. We’re particularly excited about the new gondola from La Daille to the Folie Douce, replacing an antiquated 4-person lift with a brand new 10-person, top-of-the-range POMA gondola. It opened successfully to pedestrians on Saturday, gliding above the OK piste in record time and with minimal noise pollution.

The snow conditions above 2300m were incredible for this early in the season. The three main summits – the Pisaillas glacier above Le Fornet, the top of the Solaise and the top of the Bellevarde/Olympique – were all open for business. A good base of snow is crucial for maintaining snow conditions long into the spring skiing months, and with 60cm covering the top we will be keeping our fingers crossed for another record breaking winter season.

Welcome to our new Chalet Specialists

Fri October 05, 2018

After bidding farewell to Georgia, our Meribel resort specialist, in July, we knew we had big boots to fill. Luckily we’ve welcomed Katie Durack and Libby Hunting to the team just in time to gear up for winter 2018/19.

We chatted with both of them to find out what they love about skiing and managed to get some insider tips on their favourite spots in Meribel and Val d’Isere.

What Katie did next....

Katie worked for us in winter 2016/17 as a chalet host in Indiana Lodge, Meribel. In between whipping up mouth-watering afternoon teas and keeping the chalet spik-and-span she could be found on the slopes, skiing every day no matter the weather.
