Ski holidays for beginners

Planning your first ski holiday? We can help.

How many sports can transport you to some of the most breathtaking surroundings in the world? What else is suitable for a whole family to enjoy together and involves regular stops for coffee, mulled wine and fondue (choose your poison wisely)? We realise that planning a ski holiday for beginners can be a daunting task but are here to make the whole process as stress-free as possible.

Where to begin?

We can’t lie to you: there’s a lot to consider. Which ski resort will you go to, what kind of lift pass do you need and where can you hire equipment? Plus, which ski school will help you to progress the most in your limited time at the resort?

Our expert sales team is here to guide you through each decision as it arises and ensure that you are armed with all the necessary information to make well-informed choices. Then it’s over to the VIP SKI teams in resort. Our teams are carefully assembled to deliver consistently high levels of service and to answer all your questions throughout the week. To make life easier we offer catered chalets too.

Resorts that cater for all skill levels

Although our luxury chalets are located in some of Europe’s leading ski destinations, you don’t need to be an expert skier to enjoy them. You can learn the basics at a leading ski school, either in a private lesson or in a group with like-minded individuals. When you feel ready, you can ease yourself into the nursery slopes, before moving onto the blue runs at your own pace.

If you’re travelling with friends or family who are more experienced, you can rest assured that everyone will be catered for. Our resorts offer skiing for all abilities, meaning the more advanced skiers in your party can make the most of the black runs or venture off piste while the beginners find their feet elsewhere.

Our ski school partners

We work with several ski schools across our resorts, allowing us to pre-book lessons on your behalf and ensure everything is taken care of before you arrive. Your lessons will have a laid-back atmosphere, delivered by top-tier instructors who are fluent in English. The focus will always be on enjoyment and progression so that you get the most out of your session.

Lessons are provided in small groups and are organised by ability, giving you the opportunity to meet other guests at a similar skill level in a friendly environment. Kids’ lessons are also available, giving little ones the same opportunities to learn at their own pace and meet other children at the resort - ideal for those travelling as a family.

Suited and booted

Even once your lessons are organised you won’t get far without the main attraction, the skis! We recommend hiring equipment on your first trip. In fact many experienced skiers who return year on year chose to hire.

The shops we partner with in resort all stock the latest equipment and there is no need to worry about servicing, ski carriage or where on earth you’re going to store them for the other 51 weeks of the year. Skis, boots and poles are all obligatory and we would strongly recommend that helmets are added to the hire package too.

What about the rest?

Once you’ve whizzed off the slopes for the day, rest assured that we have perfected the recipe for complete relaxation. We'll leave you well-fed and in the perfect frame of mind to digest what you’ve learnt before preparing for the next day’s challenges.

A soak in a hot tub will ease any aches and pains from the mountain whilst you work up an appetite for your three-course evening meal. We serve high tea for kids at 6pm, allowing them time to get an early night, and ensure that the wine flows all the way throughout the adults’ dinner.

All that’s left then is to collapse into a squashy sofa with a film and the view of the valley below or head out to explore the town at night.

Still unsure?

If you're finding all this information too much to digest, not quite understanding the terminology, or simply prefer to talk through everything with someone in person, then please do contact us. You can call our friendly team on 020 892 4060. We're looking forward to helping you find the perfect ski holiday.
