Snowboarding Holidays in France
There are over 250 ski resorts across France, so how do you decide which to choose for your next snowboarding holiday? Well we’ve done some of the hard work so you don’t have to.
Our French resorts are classed as some of the best destinations in the world for both skiing and snowboarding, high altitude, great historic snow records (and superb snowmaking facilities just in case), efficient lift systems, and of course, our beautiful chalets provide the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes.
Avoriaz
Avoriaz is the highest resort in the Portes du Soleil ski area, it has underrated off-piste and great terrain parks. The wider area gives access to 650km of pistes in 14 resorts and two countries, no snowboarder will be bored exploring here; think wide open powder fields, snow parks and boardercross, there’s a full blown superpipe and an eco park, the Burton Stash, twisting through the woods with natural freestyle features. If you’re looking for snowboarding lessons Evolution 2 has a range of classes to ensure you’re shredding up the piste at the end of the week.
Morzine
Morzine is a resort in the Portes du Soleil ski area with plenty to offer whether you’re a first time snowboarder or an experienced powder hound. Generally not a resort chosen by advanced boarders as they favour higher or more famous resorts, so when the snow dumps here there is always plenty of powder to be explored. The snow park in Mont Cherie has kickers for all levels and an air bag for those brave enough. Head up to Avoriaz to explore the Burton Stash, the natural snow park. If you need lessons we can recommend New Generation and Easy2ride.
Val d'Isere
One of the most popular and well known of our French resorts, Val d’Isere lives up to its reputation as one of the best resorts for both snowboarding and skiing holidays; offering a huge and varied terrain, at high altitude, with a great snow record, lively après ski and quality accommodation.
Snowboarders will delight to know there are very few drag lifts here or irritating flats. The park has lots to offer for all abilities, and if you want to try your hand in the pipe there is one in neighbouring Tignes.
If it’s off-piste you’re hankering for, then hire a guide to be shown the best of what is on offer here. On piste there’s a huge array of slopes that any boarder would enjoy riding. Our partners at Oxygene, TDC and Evolution2 offer various snowboarding lessons.
Arc 1950
Arc 1950, and the Paradiski in general, are renowned as great resorts for snowboarding with heaps of powder snow and lots of wide, well-groomed pistes to choose from. Despite being an incredibly popular resort, the vast expanse of snow to explore means you're unlikely to be queuing anywhere for long. For the thrill-seekers, head to Apocalypse Park which is filled with rails and boxes for snowboarders of all abilities. Our friends at Evolution2 and Supreme Ski offer private and group snowboard lessons for all levels.
For Beginners to Advanced Snowboarders
Whether you’re a complete beginner just considering your first snowboarding holiday, or a seasoned pro, each one of our resorts will have something to offer. Our ski and snowboard school partners will ensure your first experience is a good one, and by the end of the week will have you shrieking with joy when you link more than 10 turns without falling. They will encourage more advanced boarders to ride fakie, or teach you how to nail your first grab.
