Igloo chalet - This is one of the oldest night clubs in France. Great music with a good atmosphere it also hosts regular theme nights such as foam parties, disco, rock, 80s etc.

Bar Bush - One of the longest established après ski watering holes in Les Gets, Bar Bush can be found right in the centre of the resort, just next to the main village square. It’s a lively little bar with friendly staff and very popular with the Brits and locals. 

Le Bacchus by Crychar – If you are looking for a stylish destination for an apéritif before dinner, then the cosy wine bar in the Hotel Crychar is the place to go. With an impressive wine list and excellent attention to detail, you won’t be disappointed.

Bar Bylone - This bar is very popular with the locals so a great choice to soak up the Savoyard atmosphere and lifestyle.

Bellevue Hotel and L’AprèSki Bar - Situated at the bottom of the Chavannes piste on the edge of the village, this bar is very popular with both tourists and locals. The bar has live music most Wednesdays and hosts regular themed parties. The bar terrace gets the best of the late afternoon sun so a great place for an après ski beer.

Snowshoeing is a great way to see the mountains. You can truly find yourself in another world, with nothing but the sound of a marmot scurrying in the undergrowth and maybe a mountain spring trickling by. It is possible to hire snowshoes and explore the local area, although for safety’s sake, we recommend booking a session with a guide who will take you to their favourite spots.

Kids and adults alike will love this 4 km night-time adventure down the steeper slopes in Pleney. Sledges and head-torches are supplied, and a guide will ensure that maximum enjoyment is achieved whilst staying safe. You'll love it! (Children aged 8-11 must go on a sledge with an adult.)

Snowmobiling in Morzine is the ultimate thrill for adrenaline seekers. As you rev up your snowmobile's engine and navigate the pristine alpine trails, you'll feel the rush of the cold wind on your face and the freedom of exploring the winter wonderland behind your guide. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a first-time adventurer, snowmobiling in Morzine offers an unforgettable experience, and the opportunity to see the area in a whole new light.

There is a small part of the piste to the left of the Pleney cable car near the winter playground which is reserved for sledging. It is gentle enough to keep young children happy and there is ample room at the bottom for general snow play. Older children (8 years and up) might enjoy the night-time adventure down the steeper Pleney slopes (see Night Tobogganing above).

Want to try something different? Soaring high above the winter wonderland of Morzine, tandem paragliding with an experienced instructor is a magical experience where the only sounds are the gentle rustle of your parachute and the whisper of the wind. As you launch from the snowy peaks, you'll be greeted with breath-taking panoramic views of the French Alps.

For a totally different sensation on your Morzine ski holiday, you can experience pure escapism beneath the surface of the ice in the nearby Lac de Montriond. Attached to a rope (so you are safe!) you explore the fantastic ice formations and discover the unique underwater ambience. All equipment (including warm dry suit!) is provided, and full training before your dive and guiding under the ice is included.

Morzine has an open-air ice rink next to the outdoor swimming pool. Skates are available to hire and you can take lessons if you wish. They also have a specific Kidzone for younger children. For those who prefer to spectate, the French national champion figure skaters often train there and on Saturday nights the Premiere Hockey league team the 'Morzine Penguins' play matches.

There is an indoor climbing wall in the sports hall, with instructors on hand who can initiate the beginners or offer advice to intermediate/advanced climbers. It is essential to book a session the day before.

During the colder months of the winter, many of the waterfalls in the surrounding area freeze and provide the perfect opportunity for an extreme workout and adrenaline rush. This is an incomparable experience and something that not everyone in your office can say they’ve ever done. Trips are organised by Cameleon, who know all the best locations, they can supply all the required equipment.

ESF offers a snow kindergarten for children above 3 years old who can’t yet ski on the pistes. It is a great way to introduce them to playing on the snow, wearing skis and boots, and starting to slide around. When the weather is unsuitable for children to be out all day there are indoor games and activities organised for them. Children can be left in their care for full or half days and food can be supplied or packed lunches taken.

A local slate miner explains the various techniques and the history of slate mining in Morzine which dates back two centuries.

 Dog sledding in Morzine offers a unique way to explore the snowy beauty of the French Alps. Guided by a team of eager huskies, you'll glide through breathtaking landscapes. This adventure is a must-try for families and friends seeking an unforgettable experience in the mountains.

Morzine's cinema offers a selection of films in both French and English. Look out for "VO," which stands for 'Version Originale,' indicating the film will be in its original language, sometimes with French subtitles. It's not just a cinematic experience; it's a fun way to immerse yourself in the local language.

Their certified therapists offer a range of massages and treatments designed to rejuvenate you during your stay. You can schedule appointments at your convenience. Nicolas Baud abandoned law for a course in cheese making and returned to Morzine and converted the basement of the family shop into a cheese dairy and maturing cellar. Working with the dairy farmers of the village, he produces the traditional alpine cheeses of the area, Tomme, Reblochon and Abondance. He receives visitors twice a week to participate in the making of cheese (Wednesday and Thursday at 9am, free of charge); otherwise visitors are welcome every afternoon from 3pm to 7pm.

Horse drawn sleigh rides are available around the village of Avoriaz which sits above Morzine. As Avoriaz is a car-free zone, the sleighs operate as taxis. A perfect way to spend an afternoon is to take the children up in the Prodains cable car to meet the rest of your party for lunch at one of the exceptional restaurants, admire the view and relax afterwards in a horse drawn sleigh under the warmth of a thick sheepskin blanket. Then catch the cable car back down and finish the day off waiting for the others at the bottom with a delicious hot chocolate.

What a fantastic start to 2023 when in early January Max was one of 11 athletes selected to represent Great Britain at the Alpine World Junior Ski Championships. Max told us he was delighted to be selected, and relieved to know that all the training, both on and off-snow over the last 6 months had paid off.

The 42nd edition of the Championships, ran in St Anton at the end of January, and saw over 500 of the best young Alpine skiers represent 50 countries across 11 events in one of the biggest gatherings of Alpine skiing talent in the world. Max competed in the Super G, Downhill and Giant Slalom.

Slalom is one of the most powerful and challenging events in skiing. It involves speed, strong carving turns, rhythm and great confidence with speeds reached up to 43 mph.

It comes from the Norwegian word slalåm, from sla(d), meaning “sloping,” and låm, meaning “track.” Max competed in Slalom at Bosnia and scored a fabulous 46 which is a personal best. Well done Max!

Earlier this month Max competed at the English Alpine Championships in Bormio, Italy. Racing against other British skiers as well as European athletes Max did extremely well securing a 1st and 2nd place in the Under 21s Super G. He also raced in the Giant Slalom and Slalom and whilst he didn’t finish it’s all great experience to take part and ski in competition environments.

Max is currently having a well-deserved break at home for a few days so he can recharge and catch up on some admin before heading back to Leogang in Austria to continue his training.
