    This is our 7th time staying with VIP in Val d'Isere and they don't disappoint. The chalet is comfortable and clean throughout. Ottilie and Gil were fantastic friendly hosts. They handled my coeliac diet brilliantly and were very careful to ensure there was no cross contamination. Their stand in hosts on their days off (Matt, Emma and Josh) were equally great. One of the delighters for me was the fresh smoothie every morning. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and beautifully presented, including all my GF cakes. The normal cakes looked fab and my partner said they were delicious too. Orange and cardamon or spiced apple cake were the two favourites amongst the rest of the guests. Ski hire was simple with VIP taking us to the ski hire shop and transporting the kit back so no lugging around skis and boots on the first day. Plus it's always nice that they come and collect the skis from the chalet at the end of the week. The resort is our favourite and VIP our favourite company to stay with. Top restaurant recommendation for something a little different on the host night off is Bambou, Thai restaurant that is lovely. I have no doubt we will be back to stay with VIP again. We even got to watch the Rugby on ITV on the Saturday night and the WiFi in the chalet is excellent.

    We had the most incredible holiday and a huge part of that was thanks to Kate and Robbie! They were absolutely amazing hosts, always so much fun, fab food and great chat!! Everyday coming home to delicious goodies and dealing with us quite raucous bunch!! Thank you two for everything!!! X

    We had a fantastic week at Bear Lodge and would definitely book to stay there again. There were just a few things that could be improved to make it a 5 star experience. The team at VIP were amazingly helpful with the booking as we had to move it and they kindly honoured the discounts that we had initially booked for even though they didn’t apply to the week we moved to. The transfer at Geneva was very easy, but it was a shame that we were told we couldn’t eat or drink on the bus transfer. I totally appreciate that’s a request from the bus company and not VIP but a message beforehand would have been really helpful just to make us aware, especially as last time we used VIP (2024) we were given snacks and water on the coach. It wasn’t a big deal to us but others on the transfer were quite hungry. The hotel was amazing and the staff were so helpful there. The room was immaculate and we loved having the view of the mountains from the balcony every morning. The wake up tea service was also such a lovely treat to have. The teams cleaning the rooms did a great job every day. The spa was also really lovely and was kept spotless by Tiff and her team. It was amazing to be able to unwind and relax sore legs after a hard days skiing. The afternoon tea was always such a welcome treat, the bakes were delicious every day. We wondered if you might consider offering a savoury option too (e.g. a cheese scone) - for those who don’t have a sweet tooth! We didn’t use the bar much but really enjoyed the pub quiz one evening, and it was great to have the option of a pre or post dinner drink. And we really enjoyed the apres bar outside on the Friday evening. The food was fantastic every night, there was a great selection each day and the quality and presentation of all the meals was wonderful. The only comment we had about meal times was that they felt slightly chaotic sometimes. Given that we had an allocated meal time we weren’t ever sure if we were meant to seat ourselves or wait at the desk in the dining room. Our pre-ordered choices were wrong a couple of times (but it was great that the team always checked what we’d ordered and were more than happy to make any changes) and it was often hard to get someone’s attention to ask for water or wine. The food was always served really efficiently though which was great. The only other comment I had was that during the pre-trip call I was asked if there were any special occasions during our trip. I said that my partner’s birthday was on 11th March and was asked if he had a favourite cake, however on the day nothing happened. I didn’t mention it at the time as I thought perhaps I had misunderstood that VIP would do anything for him, but during the week there was another birthday and after dinner the team brought out a little cake with candles. Again I’m not sure if they had arranged that separately, but I felt the call did create an expectation that something small might be done to mark the day, so I felt a bit disappointed when nothing happened. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would really recommend bear lodge and VIP ski to friends and family.

  • A True VIP Stay at Chalet Ipaka Hosted by Luca

    We had a truly amazing week staying at Chalet Ipaka, hosted by Luca. This was a rare family holiday that had been planned for years, and our stay with VIP absolutely lived up to all expectations. Avoriaz has always been a special place for us over the years, but we had never experienced it in such luxury before. From the first afternoon we arrived to the final early morning departure, we were completely looked after. Nothing was ever too much trouble for our chalet hosts, Luca and George, or the resort managers, Adam and Adam. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better team to make our holiday so relaxing, seamless, and memorable. The food each day was outstanding, the facilities and overall finish of the chalet were exceptional, and the views from every floor were simply incredible. And of course, the skiing was fantastic too! A huge thank you to Luca and the whole team for such a top-class week. We’ll be talking about it for a long time!

  • Our third fantastic stay at Bear Lodge!

    We enjoyed a fantastic week at Bear Lodge - our third in four years - with a 4 year old and a 6 year old, we have a good holiday if the kids are well catered for and having a great time, and that’s definitely the case at Bear Lodge. The Bear Cubs (kids club) nannies are amazing and go above and beyond including dropping off and picking up the kids from the mainstream ESF lessons and catering activities for their preferences. The food is fantastic and all the staff super helpful and that’s before you get to the fantastic on piste location. We’ll probably be back!

    Our fourth time at Bear Lodge and that says it all really. Consistently good - the staff are welcoming, friendly and supremely helpful. The food, wine and bar are all excellent, and the added bonus of the pool and spa mean you never have to leave the building - except to ski in and out of course!

  • An exceptional experience

    We have been on Catered Chalet holidays for more than 35 years and this one was the best so far from all aspects of the experience from the booking process with the office team, resort manager pre-communication, private transfer to the friendliness and skills of our chalet host. The highlights were as follows: Our taxi driver was waiting for us as we came through arrivals and enabled us to get to Avoriaz by 12:30 so we could ski on the day of arrival (a real bonus for us). Very high standard of furniture, fixtures and equipment in the chalet and everywhere was spotless including the pool/sauna/hammam area. Our chalet host (Luca) looked after us superbly and proactively ensured we had everything we needed at all times. He was a fabulous chef producing high end catering including cooked bespoke breakfasts and a gourmet 4 course dinner in the evening and even delivered early morning hot drinks to our rooms. We were surprised and impressed to have a choice of complimentary good wines on a wine list, included in the package, and there were canapés & champagne served on our first and last evenings. Chalet Ipaka is very well placed in Avoriaz and enabled us to be on the slopes in seconds. All in all we had an amazing time - thank you!!!

  • 2nd Trip to Bear Lodge-Great Experience again, some simple fine-tuning required in certain areas

    In general a great holiday, the staff are very attentive (Tilly on reception, George and Ben being particularly impressive) and the Lodge does many things to a very high standard. The convenience of the boot-room and the manner in which your luggage is brought to your room as well as the location of the lodge itself really helps toward a relaxing experience. The Spa did not run out of towels later in the day this year so that was a nice improvement. The food was mostly excellent, with plenty of choices for breakfast and evening meal. The following points are intended as constructive feedback. Firstly compared to last year there seemed to be a lack of supervision on the floor of the dining room. This manifested itself toward the end of the week and particularly at breakfast, for example for the last 3 days or so one might sit down for breakfast and not be offered a pot of tea for 15/20 minutes, usually you had to resort to asking for it along with asking if there was any hot food offerings. On that occasion the waitress said she would come back with her pad to explain the options and take orders only for her to forget a minute later and proceed to clean up tables in another part of the dining room before we reminded her !. In respect of room cleaning, it was in general good but could we recommend putting the mattress protectors in the laundry each week. We we resetting the bed sheet and noticing heavy soiling (I would imagine from bodily fluids) right across the middle of the protector. It was a little unsightly tbh. The bar area is a nice space, we enjoyed the quiz evening which was popular, might it be an idea to have a couple more events on an evening in the bar, we certainly would have enjoyed another quiz, the prizes do not need to be grandiose I think the guests took pleasure in the socialising. Similarly the ski guiding seemed popular and might the Lodge offer it for guests for more than 2 mornings for a small fee per guest ?. Whilst the guiding was busy (at least 20 guests on the first day) it might have been more appealing to break the group into two as some guests found it a little slow (not me !) and so did not return for the next day, naturally the guys from ESF had to cater to the more cautious guests. This is a great service by the way and very enjoyable. Finally, the staff, as mentioned, are great, a couple of my points above are, I think, systemic issues that probably arise from their youthfulness and inexperience.

  • A fourth great week in les Arcs

    It is hard to beat the Bear Lodge deal. The location is ideal, with two chair lifts accessing the two sides of les Arcs just a few metres from the ski room door, and two more lifts a few hundred metres down the hill. The wellness facilities are exceptional for this type of accommodation. The chalet apartments are comfortable and well appointed. For our group they provide an ideal social space with the sitting and dining areas in the same space. Our chalet host, James, was nice, efficient and a good cook. You could not ask for more. Chalet manager Hannah was very attentive, friendly and efficient, which was appreciated as we had an issue with water leakage from above. We noticed a considerable improvement in cleaning and cleanliness, both in the apartment and generally around the building since our last visit, which was nice to see.

  • Fabulous holiday, great service from all staff, start to finish!

    We booked a last minute ski holiday to La Plagne. I had been briefly before when k worked as a VIP nanny in Val D’Isere 10 years ago but before but my partner grew up doing family ski holidays here but never chalets. Can happily say the standard are still incredible! The apartment was lovely, rooms and bathrooms finished to high standards, bed very comfortable. It felt cosy/homely too and had plenty of space to relax in the lounge. Hot tub was also fabulous and very well maintained! The boot room was excellent with large area so plenty of space to get booted if other apartments there too. A lovely coffee machine that served the best hot chocolate that was the best way to end the day! The individual apartment lockers were big with good heated boot racks. Ski in ski out as run litrally runs behind the apartments! Most importantly all the staff couldn’t do more to help offer advice and make sure everything on the holiday was how you wanted! Huge shout out has to go to Yaz and Cat who looked after us in Monte Rose! Both went above and beyond everyday, not only with the cleanliness of the chalet, all the meal and afternoon tea but even having take away bacon sandwiches and pastries for us to take for breakfast on transfer day when we left 5am! Thank you also to the logistics team particularly Fin coming to pick us up twice so no bus needed after 2 big aprés sessions! All in all amazing staff, high standard in every area, will be booking again!
