Testimonials

Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

  • Lovely hotel in a great location

Modern, new hotel in a fantastic ski-in, ski out location. Our room was very good and the hotel has lots of facilities. We used the wellness spa on a couple of bad weather days and the cinema on a couple of nights. The staff were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much bother for them. The underground parking was great. We would definitely return. Thanks for a good holiday. I'd like to give some constructive feedback on one thing. Does VIP have a policy on the provision of music in the dining room? We found it far too loud for dining (both breakfast and dinner) and the music didn't really lend itself to a relaxed dining experience. We asked 4 times during the week if the music could be turned down, and whilst this happened it soon got turned up again. The choice of dance/rock music (Venga Boys, Beyonce, Sam Fender etc) did not provide the right 'ambience' for dining. It felt like the type of music and volume was for the benefit of the young staff rather than customers.

  • Wow- truly amazing

We have just had the most amazing week in penthouse Misha in the fabulous Bear lodge. A big family holiday with a range of ages, our fantastic chalet hosts Sam & Alice catered for all without any fuss. All the meals and afternoon cookies and cakes were delicious. The resort is perfect for skiers of all abilities and the instructors at the ski schools were great. We can’t wait to come back.

  • Excellent from start to finish

What a fantastic company! From start to finish the service was flawless. From Louise at head office and her excellent organising and communication to the in chalet boot fit, the concierge service, the hosts and the resort manager, nothing was too much trouble. With children it made the whole experience much more enjoyable. We have been with VIP a few times and this is by far the best. Highly recommend!

  • Faff-Free Skiing

    Michael Cox 07 Apr 2024

Bear Lodge really does tick all the boxes if you’re looking for a ski holiday that minimises the faff factor. It’s literally by the side of a blue piste, with two lifts about 50m down the slope, and high enough that it should be snow sure all season (it was slushy by the end of our week, but there was still plenty of snow). Ski hire is in house, literally in the boot room. They can sort lift passes before you arrive. We didn’t have them, but the ski lessons start right outside the door, which is really handy if you have younger children. There is even a screen showing what lifts and runs are open inside the boot room in case you don’t want to use the excellent Paradiski app. There is a really efficient WhatsApp concierge service for restaurant bookings and anything else you need. The rest of Bear Lodge is as it looks in the photos. The rooms were generous, with plenty of storage. They were also spotless: credit to the housekeeping team. The bar is a good size, and could also be described as a lounge as it’s a pretty pleasant space to spend time. Spa, cinema etc you can see for yourself, but both great facilities. It’s also just a short walk into the centre of 1950 for shops, bars and restaurants. Otherwise, it’s typical of the larger, higher-end VIP options (this was our fifth holiday with VIP, across four different resorts). The staff are all friendly, and overall service is very good. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, and good quality. Afternoon tea was nice when you got back from the slopes, with a couple of cake/cookie options each day. Not major, but dinner was a little disappointing. There were a few odd combinations, starters and desserts were often way too big, and the included wines weren’t the best. We were also crying out for something lighter and healthier by the end of the week. But you do get a choice (made the previous evening), you don’t have to finish everything you’re given, and obviously you’re free to skip courses if you want (we frequently did). The only other downside was overnight noise from piste-bashers, but that’s an inevitable trade-off of being so close to the piste.

VIP offer a good option for all inclusive ski breaks although more recently other companies have setup some great chalets. The in chalet team are good as is the food.

  • The stuff that drams are made of

My 3rd trip with VIP this ski season which reflects how highly we continue to rate them. Kane and Selina are truly the most wonderful hosts, from dawn to dusk the menu was first class, nothing ever appeared too much trouble and we tried our best to push them to the limits! The welcome was always warm and the conversation and wine always sparkling. Hannah was her marvelous attentive self and ensured that everything was seamless and perfect for the family from start to finish. We all very much appreciate everything that Selina, Kane, Hannah and Emily contributed to make our holiday so sensational

  • Lovely holiday

Thank you so much, we’ve had a wonderful week. Vanessa was amazing (and so was Jasmine). They both really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. So lovely not to have to think about making meals. Only downside would be the quality of the coach on the outward transfer from Geneva. Too hot and too cramped. Other than that everything was lovely.

  • Fab childcare experience

    Jo B 06 Apr 2024

Our holiday was really made because our son Frank had the most amazing time. He was so well looked after in the kids club by Amy and others who kept him entertained, loved, and encouraged him to get into the kit and off to ski school. Amy also did babysitting for us, which allowed us to go out for dinner and enjoy a bit of downtime. Great (not just good) childcare is rarer than hens teeth in London where we live so it was extraordinary to find such an amazing set up here. I want to make particular mention of Amy who went above and beyond her role and was proactive, genuinely entertaining and kind. A real asset to the kids club but also an outstanding person for the hotel making this stay truly outstanding for us. A few small tweaks on other aspects of our holiday: I would make two changes. Firstly I would find a way to build some steps up the side of the shorter left side piste (as you look up from the 4th floor exit) so it’s possible to walk safely up to the village not on the piste. This would be critical with a newborn but coming back down with a toboggan didn’t need to be so exciting! Going the long way round on the bus seems avoidable. Secondly I would try to upgrade the breakfast experience: more stuff laid out, replenished more often, and a few tweaks to the overall experience to make it a bit more premium.
