Looking to tear up the slopes?

This week’s ski exercise is one for the real powder hounds, mogul bashers and speed demons. It’ll help to create more power through your turns for tighter carving action on the ski slopes this winter, whilst also exercising the muscles necessary for rotational separation – the movement which allows your shoulders to remain facing down the piste whilst your legs and hips turn independently. In technical terms:

“This exercise is fantastic to help you generate strength and condition in posterior oblique sling, while enhancing the stability of your knee, sacrum and low back and the strength in your glute max and scapula adductors.”

Behind the cellar door with our Master Sommelier

“A bottle of wine begs to be shared; I have never met I miserly wine lover.”

A catered chalet holiday is all about the food...but of course we understand that the wine on offer is equally important. Wine is a staple ingredient of VIP SKI holidays, be it enjoyed with your 3-course evening meal, quaffed at aprés-ski or sipped whilst bubbling away in the hot tub under the late afternoon sunshine. Three reds, three whites and a rosé are offered in all our chalets, with optional upgrades available too for special occasions or for those who prefer a particular grape.  Our chalet hosts all had the chance to sample all seven house wines and are on hand to pair specific bottles with each meal on the VIP SKI menu.

Now that Christmas is over...

...many of us have turned our attention to New Year’s resolutions. It could be tackling dry January, trying a vegetarian or vegan diet for a month or working on your fitness ahead of a busy year. If it’s fitness goals which you have in mind, then making them ski-specific is a great way to stay motivated as you get closer to your chalet holiday. There’s no better feeling than cruising down the slopes, safe in the knowledge that the work you’ve put in beforehand will prevent any niggling aches and pains from ruining your holiday fun.

For some inspiration on how to condition your skiing muscles read on for the next in our series of ski exercises with Mark Zawadski of Peak Condition.

Today he’s demonstrating the Swiss Ball Horse Stance Balance Roll, which requires nothing more than an exercise ball and a keen sense of balance. Here’s what Mark had to say about it:
