The standout aspect of Bear Lodge has to be the staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were polite, friendly, attentive and engaging. Always smiles and greetings no matter the time of day. Always there to help and answer questions and deal with any problems. This strong customer focus permeated everything they did from the reception staff through to housekeeping. Strong customer service seems to be a cornerstone of this hotel and makes such a difference to the whole experience. So a huge thank you to everyone at Bear Lodge for making our stay so pleasant. In terms of the hotel itself, there is a lot to recommend it. The location is fantastic. Truly ski to the door. The ski hire and boot room arrangement is first class and so hassle free. None of the dreaded queuing to hire or return equipment. All done on site and top end equipment. Good pool and spa facilities. The rooms are small and wardrobe/hanging space is very limited. However, all very modern and clean and housekeeping is excellent. Loved having coffee brought to the room every morning on the dot of 07:30 hrs. The layout of the hotel is a little unusual especially having the bar on the first floor and the dining room on the 4th floor. The bar area is also a little soulless. Not at all cosy and inviting, but again friendly bar staff. Undoubtedly a great deal of effort went into the menu for dinner and on occasion it met expectations. However, sometimes it seemed that the kitchen was overwhelmed. There were long waiting times between courses and some of the ambition was lost in the execution of the dishes. Notwithstanding, a great place to stay and again absolutely first class customer focus/service. Thank you to all of the incredibly hard working team at Bear Lodge.
