We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

  • Great service, excellent food, lovely staff

    This is our 4th year at Bear Lodge which says it all. The hotel is well designed. The ski-in/ ski-out, the ski room, and hire facilities on-site, are excellent facilities. The pool and wellness centre also. We have always found the staff so lovely - friendly and helpful. This year the food was excellent (which has not always been the case!) - really great menus and dishes. We had two snow days where we were basically stuck in; we were provided with a simple lunch on both days, which was very unexpected and really very appreciated. Additional little touches -like fruit always available, water for the room, kettle in the room if you wanted it. Staff absolutely lovely - so friendly and everyone bends over backwards to help you. 2 areas that we thought could have been better:- the hosting was a very big group, initially 19 people with two ski instructors. We asked if they would split the group and they said they preferred not to. We think that 2 smaller groups, one faster than the other, would have been a better way of running the hosting. We do appreciate the hosting - it's a great way to help understand the resort and to meet other people who are keen skiers. We also thought it would be nice if in the broadcasts the concierge could alert us to things going on in the village. We nearly missed the ski jumping on Wednesday evening, which is a regular event. Somebody in the village told us about it. Despite mixed weather, We have had an excellent week, and thoroughly recommend Bear Lodge and VIP Ski.

    An amazing week, thank you so much for looking after us so well and making our holiday with three young children seamless! Becca looked after us so well, she is a very talented chef cooking up delicious home cooked food for the children and us every day. The accommodation is lovely, clean and spacious with fantastic ski in ski out facilities and amazing ski school which meets just outside the boot room. We will be back x

    Brilliant. Right from arriving at our accommodation we were greeted by the staff welcoming us in. More than that, our luggage was delivered to outside our room. This was an excellent start. Throughout our stay I felt all the staff really did want to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was excellent and plentiful. The room was spacious and was of a good standard. The layout of boot room, restaurant and other facilities was ideal. Well thought out. I have been skiing for over 35 years and for the cost is amongst the best value. Thank you VIP. If I can, I would certainly select a holiday with VIP.

  • Hotel has everything you need and great value for money

    We had a fantastic time, the hotel is perfect location on the piste right next to two of the main chair lifts. ESF and Intersport in house makes it very easy and convenient with children. Also an easy walk into 1950 which has some nice restaurants. The hotel is clean and in good condition. It has a good pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. Staff were all very friendly, food was as you expect for this style holiday nothing fancy but what’s needed. Also super helpful they move all the luggage off the coaches and in and out of your rooms. Pillows are poor and mattresses is very hard. If you are in a room with bunks it is a little tight for space.

    From booking to last day , this was the easiest & best ski holiday we have experienced in over 20 years. We have never experienced customer service in France or anywhere really like it, every single member of staff were amazing , so friendly & nothing is a problem , even down to finding snow chains for us so we could get off the mountain after a very snowy week, (thank you Tiff) The food was also fabulous restaurant quality, brilliant chefs & lovely waiter( thank you George.) The hotel rooms are small but adequate for the amount of time you spend in them and the hot tub was actually hot, (unusual for France) We will definitely be back. Overall at least a 5* experience.

    We were pleasantly surprised by the whole Graciosa experience; we were a little nervous that such a large number of chalets together might not work, but it did. Boot room facilities etc all good. There was excellent sound-proofing in the rooms and between the suites. We thought the pretend wood fire was a little "naff"; one of the best parts of any chalet holiday is seeing which of the chalet hosts is better at building a log fire! Main "criticism" of the seating area layout was that it doesn't lend well to conversations, and you feel like you're sitting in a waiting room. We self-drove, and were a little surprised to find out after being shown where to park in the underground car-park that in fact we'd been told to park in a private space! Neither did Charlie let our excellent hosts Cam and Eleanor know that we had arrived on site.,which they would have appreciated., and sometimes we found he was either really friendly or quite curt. Hosts and drivers however all had excellent inter-personal skills and could not be more helpful. We have stayed with VIP for ~ 20 years; this year's food / cooking was amongst the best we have had, but it seems as if the chalet team have stopped doing a few things which had always previously happened. The welcome talk was brief - no discussion of ski in / out options, no offer of morning tea/ coffee ( we never go for it, but our friends who came with us do), no discussion of whether beers / drinks in the fridge need to be paid for ( was always used to having to do this) and no discussion about the lift passes. We later found that the La Plagne app was very useful, and recommendations to photograph ski pass / receipt and upload to the app would have been appreciated. We also found that the evening menu was not written up; previously all hosts had jotted down the menu on the Welcome note alongside the cake and bread for afternoon tea. In comparison to previous chalets, we were not expected to vacate the dining table so they could set the table for breakfast. Must say, we preferred that, but had the sound proofing not been excellent, it might be more noisy in the morning when table being cleared and set ??
