Testimonials

Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

  • 5 STAR MONEY, 4 STAR SERVICE

    IRENE RILEY 24 Jan 2020

Whilst we had a really enjoyable family Christmas holiday we had a number of issues we experienced. The chalet had been rushed to be finished ready for guests, us being the first guinea pigs so to speak namely screws left on the floor. Plus when we arrived, the pathway down to chalet hadn’t been sufficiently cleared so very scared in case my husband and I slipped and fell. In the bedrooms, there was no side table to put a drink on so I had to use the puffee apart from that, the bedroom was nice but the bed hard. The service was definitely not 5 star. We kept having to ask for spoons, more drinks and serviettes for the table. There was a lovely young lady Allan who sort of seemed to be doing the preparation and cooking of the food, whilst Harry was flitting between 3 chalets. On their day off, there was no milk for a cuppa in the morning so I had to knock on next doors and they gave me a little milk! I wasn’t a happy happy. The food was most enjoyable although on Christmas Day we didn’t have any crackers to pull!! As a family, we feel that more training and support was needed by the managers to their staff. Two staff should have been in the chalet instead of one being shared between three chalets. Also, when dealing with food, long hair should be tied back and tea towels not resting on the shoulder! The views were stunning. Allan cooked us some lovely meals. We do love Avoriaz and VIP Ski did get a lot of things right and on a happy note we will book again this year but make sure there’s enough milk for a cuppa in your absence please!!

  • The reluctant skiers

Such an enjoyable week in Meribel and despite our lack of skiing ability the VIP experience was fantastic. The drivers are brilliant and make the transfer from chalet to slope effortless. Our chalet hosts Claire and Jake went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible - nothing was too much trouble and they definitely gave us 5 Star service. The chalet is in a beautiful location central to town - amazing cinema room, however, although cosy it is slightly dated.

  • Family escape

On arrival at the lodge we were warmly greeted by our host Sophie, who clearly explained everything about the Chalet and the services provided. Sophie looked after us amazingly well, providing wonderful meals/afternoon tea, always in a friendly easygoing manner, making our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The lodge itself was brand new with a lovely outlook and layout right in the heart of Val D’Isere.that suited our family of 6 very well. The 3 rooms were comfortable and large enough all with ensuite's. Overall a great holiday that I would comfortably recommend.

  • Excellent VIP staff and service - just not quite VIP-level accomodation

I'll start by saying we have travelled with VIP Ski a number of times to chalets and this was our fist VIP hotel trip. As always, the office staff, booking process and travel were excellent. VIP staff are so happy to help and responsive to issues that it we have booked with them again and again. My only issues with this holiday relate to the property itself. I know this is a new hotel for VIP this season and it is in a fantastic location but it doesn't really have the VIP feel that the other chalets I've stayed at have. The interior is traditional (compared to VIP's normally modern boutique-chic) and the fittings are a little dated so it never really felt VIP to us. One of things I love about VIP is coming back to the luxury and it's not quite there at the Hotel Alberg. The last issue is with the food and wine and again, this is based on the experience from other VIP chalets. The wine selection didn't seem up to the normal standard and we struggled to find wines that we liked (even in the pay-extra list) and I was surprised that that the non-wine drinkers in our party had to negotiate to get beer as an alternative (I have no idea what soft drink options were for the teetotal). The food was also quite hit and miss, some food was fantastic, some was over cooked, some was very small portions (the gnocchi for example was just 4 pieces of gnocchi for a main meal?!). The choices were good, it was just the delivery that was disappointing. Lastly, the bread choice all week was very un-Austrian, almost always poor quality baguette, non of the traditional rye, black breads that Austria and Bavaria are famous for. However, I should make it clear that we all had a brilliant time skiing, St Christophe and the Alberg ski are are amazing and the VIP hotel staff where a pleasure to deal with and super helpful.
