Testimonials

Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

  • Few niggles

Chalet was in a beautiful location and hosts were lovely, friendly, helpful chaps. However not quite the 5 star experience we have had previously. Food was well presented and tasty but often not hot enough, also there seems to be a problem with communication and organisation at times. There a few other minor issues, which led me to give a 4 star rating. Overall great holiday in a beautiful location in a lovely chalet but ‘overworked in my opinion’ hosts. Few tweaks and it would be back to 5 star imo.

  • First Ever Ski Experience

    G C 04 Feb 2025

    Stayed Jan 2025
Our first ever ski holiday and we could not have hoped for a better location, the views from our balcony, close proximity to the ski lifts, esf ski school right on the doorstep and a short walk to the charming 1950 village. The hotel is beautifully appointed with the added bonus of the pool and thermal suite to relax in after a day on the slopes. The bedrooms are extremely clean and comfortable. The young staff are all friendly, welcoming and work hard, that said there does seem to be a lack of experience especially in the restaurant and kitchen. This is the only area that lets Bear Lodge down. The hot breakfast menu is limited and takes some time to arrive, the best offering of the week was an omelette, if this was offered daily it would be a huge improvement. The dinner options were better, the wine is great and there is plenty of it, most of the food was tasty although portion sizes were small, I feel the menu is overcomplicated, if it was simplified it would help the kitchen and the overall service would improve. The biggest let down was the kids dinner options, they were really poor and really needs to be looked at. If the restaurant made some easy adjustments it really could be a 5 Star experience.

  • Wonderful stay and very well looked after

Having booked with VIP before, we are no strangers to the standard of holiday provided. We were however super pleased with the standard of accommodation, the effort and lengths staff went to to look after us, the food and of course the nannies in Bear Cubs. Special mention to Katie in Bear Cubs who looked after our little one so well, and Tom in the restaurant.

A huge thank you to Annie and Izzy for looking after us so well. Friendly, polite and beautifully presented food. Nothing was too much bother - thank you. A special mention too to Harry and the rest of the logistic team for their hard work in driving us when needed, making sure we had enough firewood and for clearing the metres of snow that fell that week. A fabulous week had and will definitely book again with VIP!

  • Brilliant childcare

The bear club was amazing for our two year old, and very flexible with the activities he did. Location great for ski in ski out, especially for those wanting to take it in turns skiing and parenting small babies. Only improvement would be assistance getting down and back up to town, particularly on Wednesday night, rather than relying on the bus. Food was amazing and atmosphere lovely. Extremely helpful catering to dietary requirements!

On the whole another very good experience with only a few minor niggles, Chalet staff were excellent and the food good albeit often severed up on cold plates which meant the hot meals went cold quickly,

We love VIP and keep coming back. Stayed this time in Umka at Bear Lodge with our adult children and their partners. The chalet was extremely clean and comfortable. We were wonderfully looked after by our lovely hosts Hebe, Kate and Molly! They were friendly, kind, attentive and professional. And great cooks. We ate and drank extremely well! Can’t wait for next year!

  • Excellent service

This is the 2nd time we have been to Bear Lodge in Les Arcs 1950. We previously stayed in the Hotel and this time we stayed in Suite Mouk. The chalet is well designed. Max and Henry our hosts were fantastic. Perfect for ski in ski out as right on the slopes. The leisure facilities are brilliant too with a large pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub which was well needed after a day on the slopes. There is a large bar for winding down with great staff. We will definitely be back.

  • Typical VIP excellence

Despite some dodgy weather our stay in Chalet Ipaka was superb. Our host, Alby, unfortunately got injured on our second day but the rest of the team, especially Ben and Millie, rallied round magnificently. VIP standards were maintained throughout and the accommodation was excellent with great facilities. The only small niggle was the pool which, at 1.65 metres deep, was difficult to get out of for a lady of 4ft 10" without a ladder of some kind. However this did not detract from a great holiday.
