Dietary requirements

A ski holiday should be about looking forward to the mountains, not worrying about what's on the menu.

Whether you have a medically diagnosed food allergy, coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, follow a vegan lifestyle or simply have specific dietary preferences, our experienced catering teams will work with you to ensure every meal is both enjoyable and appropriate for your needs.

To us, exceptional hospitality means making every guest feel welcome around the table.

Ski holidays have changed

Years ago, travelling with a dietary requirement often meant packing your own food or expecting little more than a simple alternative meal. Thankfully, things have moved on.

At VIP SKI, catering for different dietary requirements is now part of everyday chalet life. Our Catering Manager and chalet teams regularly prepare meals for guests with a wide variety of dietary needs, carefully planning menus before you arrive and adapting dishes throughout your stay where appropriate.

We start by listening

Every guest is different. Before your holiday, we'll ask you to tell us about any dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances within your group.

This allows our Catering Manager and resort teams to prepare in advance, source appropriate ingredients and ensure your chalet team fully understands your requirements before you arrive.
The earlier we know, the better we can look after you.

Dietary requirements we cater for

Our experienced teams regularly cater for guests with:

  • Vegetarian diets
  • Vegan diets
  • Pescatarian diets
  • Coeliac disease
  • Gluten intolerance
  • Dairy intolerance
  • Lactose-free diets
  • Nut allergies
  • Egg allergies
  • Sesame allergies
  • Shellfish allergies
  • Other medically advised dietary requirements
If your requirement isn't listed, please speak to us before booking. We'll always be honest about what we can safely accommodate.

More than just an alternative meal

We don't believe guests with dietary requirements should feel like they're missing out.
Our aim is for everyone around the table to enjoy the same quality, care and hospitality.

Wherever possible, dishes are adapted so they remain recognisably the same meal as everyone else is enjoying, rather than a completely separate menu. It's one of the many ways we help everyone feel included throughout the holiday.

Meet Laura, Catering Manager

Exceptional food has always been central to the VIP SKI experience. Laura leads our catering team, developing seasonal menus and supporting chalet teams throughout the winter.

Working closely with our Executive Chef, Laura has extensive experience adapting menus for a wide range of dietary requirements, helping ensure guests receive thoughtful, well-planned meals rather than simple substitutions.

For guests with more complex dietary needs, Laura works with our teams before your holiday begins, ensuring everything you need is fully prepared.

Sample menus

Many dietary requirements, including gluten-free and dairy-free diets, can be catered for by adapting our classic menu rather than creating entirely separate dishes. Our hosts use high-quality alternative ingredients to ensure you can enjoy the same carefully planned menus as the rest of your group. Before you travel, we'll discuss any allergies, intolerances or preferences with you so every meal is prepared safely and tailored to your needs.

Sample Vegan menu
Afternoon Tea: Orange & cardamom cake
Starter: Blackened asparagus with romesco sauce
Main course: Coffee-brined cauliflower steak with sweet potato purée, balsamic shallot, roasted broccoli & rosemary butter
Dessert: Dark chocolate & blueberry tart

Our vegan dishes are prepared using high-quality plant-based ingredients, including dairy and egg alternatives where appropriate, ensuring every course is just as satisfying as the rest of the menu.

Eating out in France

Your chalet won't be the only place you enjoy great food. France offers some wonderful restaurants, although communicating dietary requirements can sometimes feel daunting if you don't speak the language.

Our Concierge team will be happy to recommend suitable restaurants and help with reservations, while our resort teams can also advise on local dining options that cater particularly well for specific dietary requirements. A little local knowledge often makes all the difference.

Choosing the right holiday

Most guests with dietary requirements enjoy exactly the same catered chalet experience as everyone else. However, for guests with particularly complex medical needs or highly specialised diets, there may be occasions where a self-catered holiday offers greater flexibility.

If you're unsure, simply speak to one of our Alpine Account Managers before booking. We'll always give honest advice and recommend the option that's best for you, not simply the one we'd most like to sell.

The same care, whatever your dietary needs.
Carefully adapted, beautifully served.

Dietary requirements FAQs

When should I tell you about my dietary requirement?
As early as possible.
The more notice we have, the more time we have to prepare, source ingredients and brief your chalet team.

Can you guarantee an allergen-free kitchen?
Our chalet kitchens prepare a variety of foods throughout the week.
Whilst we take every reasonable precaution and operate carefully to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee an entirely allergen-free environment.
If you have a severe allergy, please discuss it with us before booking so we can advise you appropriately.

Will my meals be different from everyone else's?
Wherever possible, no.
Our chefs aim to adapt dishes so guests with dietary requirements enjoy meals that closely reflect those being served to the rest of the table.

Can children with allergies be catered for?
Absolutely.
Our catering and childcare teams work closely together to ensure children's dietary requirements are fully understood and consistently managed throughout the week.

Can you cater for multiple dietary requirements within one group?
Yes.
Many of our chalet teams regularly prepare meals for guests with different dietary requirements sharing the same table.
Planning ahead is key, which is why we encourage guests to let us know as early as possible.

What if I'm unsure whether a catered chalet is right for me?
Give us a call.
We'll happily discuss your dietary requirements and advise honestly whether a catered chalet or self-catered holiday is likely to be the best option.

Because everyone deserves great hospitality

Great food brings people together. Our aim is to ensure every guest, regardless of their dietary requirements, feels just as included, well looked after and able to enjoy one of the highlights of a chalet holiday.

Because exceptional hospitality means everyone has a place at the table.
