  • Incredible week at Club Aspen Val D'Isere

    First time at Val and what a resort for skiers and non skiers. (Inexperienced skiers may notice a degree of difficulty with the Val slopes (me!) but it is fabulous for experienced skiers and walkers only.) VIP Club Aspen is centrally located on the high street with easy access to ski hire, shops, restaurants, resort buses etc and apres ski venues such as Cocos (live bands were great) and a little bar called Bananas just off the Olympique lift. The Chalet was a little unusual in layout but was kept very clean by Gareth, Izzie and Anna who were all very efficient, attentive hosts. Joe and Lewis did an amazing job in a small kitchen with fantastic food (and cake!) throughout the week. Why not 5 stars? Option of breakfast at 7.30 am (even on the first morning?) would be very useful. This is linked to there being no VIP resort shuttle bus service which left you with a walk to the lifts carrying skis first thing if you didn't use the VIP fiddly ski drop service. (Not just me...others in the chalet said so as well!) All in all a great week made even better by fabulous weather!

    Chalet is lovely if a little poorly sound insulated and a bit smaller than advertised. You badly need to buy the sheets which hotels use to convert twin beds into doubles. Two twin beds on wheels are impractical and really takes the edge of the 'luxury' feel you're going for. You'd be better off with a hot tub in the basement and a bigger steam room than the pool as well. Boot warmers were also suspect/ineffective. Chalet hosts were exceptional, deserve all the credit you can give them and probably more money than you're paying them. Breakfast is fine. Cakes at teatime are all too sweet. Evening meals were good with a few exceptions; salmon tartare doesn't generally use smoked salmon and definitely doesn't come with bits of scrambled egg in it! For clarity, my issue is entirely with your menus rather than the way they were executed, as our chef/s were terrific. Resort is as good as it gets. I'd go with VIP again as you're competitive in your price bracket with YSE (Consensio/Scott Dunn/Chardons are a step up in quality but also price), but probably opt for a more modern chalet. Just personal choice.

    Pool area is lovely, clean and relaxing, the staff were excellent, chefs food overall better than we have experienced in previous years. Felt the rooms were slightly smaller than in aspen. Some negatives but these are observations not complaints.... Path to the slopes were difficult to pass and needed clearing, many stained cups and mugs, tv not working for a lot of the time, sky issues,,, hair dryer missing in one room, some plug points loose and pulled out of the wall. That said none of the above detracted from our time there and we will be sure to use vip again next season. Thank you

    The facilities available at Hotel Theodul was simply brilliant. From the get go, the staff were approachable and couldn't do enough for us. The Dining experiences each day were off the scale and the Chef was appropriately applauded at the end of our week, much to his embarrassment. The rooms were clean, had plenty of wardrobe space and refreshingly spacious. Theodul is a masterpiece, a little jewel if you like, with a Spa to rival the best. The boot room is well thought out and with easy access, you can't go wrong and although a short 5 minute walk to the lifts, this is not a negative, more a positive, but if you're worried, then pay 30 Euro at the Stoltz Ski shop and they'll take care of everything and you can walk back to Theodul in your comfy shoes via a bar or two. In a nutshell, a superb Ski experience and I applaud VIP Ski for their ability to cover all the bases with staff who pulled the magic together. Thank you Jon

  • Food great. Chalet cleaning not good

    The chefs produced fantastic food which was above the usual chalet standard. The chalet staff were very friendly and helpful. However the cleaning was way below standard. When we arrived there was a dirty sock on my bedside table, plastic wrappers on the wardrobe and a bottle top down the side of the toilet, by the toilet brush which I didn’t touch. At the end of the week the bottle top was still in exactly the same place. One day I left a wet towel that missed the change over in the bath and told the girls I’d left it there. It was still there that evening and on the sink was a dirty cleaning rag. I took them both downstairs and put them by the stairs the staff use to the basement. It was still there 3 days later when we left. Other guests also had similar complaints.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback Camilla. I am sorry to hear of your justifiable disappointment with the standards of chalet cleanliness. I apologise for having let you down during this stay and that your holiday was not up to the usual VIP SKI standards. As a loyal Client I hope you understand this experience is not typical of our Company and that we do take great pride in our holidays.   • One month ski holiday

    I spent the whole of March 2019 at Chaket Yukon. The chalet is perfectly located with stunning mountain views, which seem even better while sat in the hot tub located on the ground floor deck. Most of the time I had family or friends staying with me and the Chalet is comfortable for 4 adults. The food provided was outstanding, and I had to ask for less as the holiday went on, else I probably wouldn't fit into my ski gear ! Callum, our chalet host was easy going, and made everyone feel at home. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Andy, the resort manager was a regular visitor to the chalet and was able to arrange anything from lift passes, ski lessons, ski hire etc. The VIP van service, managed by Jack, was always on time to pick us up in the mornings to take us the short run to the slopes and return us any time during the day. Darrel, the executive chef, was super flexible on menus as I was staying for a month and changing the menus around was no problem, not to mention his superb fillet steaks that he cooked a couple of times. All in all an excellent time , and will be back next year.

    The chalet was lovely, very clean and came with a cinema room, hot tub, sauna etc, with a fantastic view. The location was ideal and very close to the slopes. Our chalet hosts Sam and Alex were fab, they were very accommodating, easy to talk to and we had a lot of banter with them. They were always there to give us a warm welcome and cooked us lovely meals all week. So a massive thank you to both of them for all their hard work - much appreciated!
