Why your support matters

Max Laughland, current British champion in Downhill and Super-G, competes at the top level without UK Sport funding. Despite national titles, his journey relies on private support to help him earn the FIS points needed to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Past campaigns raised nearly £4,000 fuelling his return and growth.

From setback to comeback

In early 2024, training in Pozza Di Fassa resulted in a broken collarbone and hand, just days before the World Junior Ski Championships. With successful surgery and trademark determination, Max returned to training within weeks and has been building momentum ever since.

Since then, Max has claimed 1st place in U21 Super-G and Downhill at the 2025 GB Alpine National Championships, securing national titles in both specialities. He’s now one of just ten men selected for the GB Europa Cup Squad, competing alongside elite British skiers including Owen Vinter and Dominic Shackleton.

Looking ahead

Max’s goals are ambitious and clear: to compete aggressively on the Europa Cup circuit, lower FIS points, and once again represent Great Britain at the upcoming major events such as the world championships in 2027 in Crans Montana. His long-term focus remains firmly fixed on Olympic qualification for Cortina 2026 and France 2030.

Here are a few facts about our rising ski star:

Born: August 2004 (Kent, UK)
Specialities:   Downhill, Super-G, GS, Slalom
UK Rankings: #1 in SG & #3 in DH (UK)
British Titles 2025: U21 SG & DH Champion
Current Squad: GB Europa Cup Athlete
FIS Points (season avg): DH ~36 - 145 world rank / SG ~27 - 115 world rank
