Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

  • Live and ski like a VIP!

From the moment we arrived the VIP team could not have been more helpful. Because of the weather and we may not have made it up the mountain, a picnic was provided just in case on the coach - a very thoughtful gesture which set the bar for the whole week during which we enjoyed wonderful support, service and advice. It was so nice to be provided with early morning tea in a mug which set one up for the day. Kirsten and her team deserve special mention in that she battled away with far too much snow to provide access to the outdoor pool - much enjoyed, well done. The Stolz team at the ski hire shop especially Stefan could not have been more helpful and the quality of the equipment coupled with their advice was first class. Nothing was too much trouble. We shall certainly be recommending VIP to our friends

  • VIP-ish

We hadn’t skied a lot in the least few years so we pushed the boat out and, on a recommendation from some friends, booked with VIP Ski for a week in the Chateau Chalet in Alpe d’Huez. In all, we could probably not have chosen a better location or week for our skiing, which was collectively, exceptional. But whether it was a completely VIP experience is probably open to debate. Planning, booking and pre-departure arrangements were fine, within a call from our Rep in resort ahead of time to seek our dining preferences for the non-catered day of our stay (and their recommendation was excellent) - a nice, personal touch. Having booked to fly from Stansted rather than from Gatwick, we arrived in advance of our fellow chalet guests. Despite depositing ourselves at the VIP Ski stand, we were ignored by the only VIP-Ski Rep, and when we made ourselves known to her, our arrival was clearly a surprise even though we were on her manifest. Again, on our return, the local Rep came to advise those of us travelling to Manchester that we would need to leave some 3.5 hrs ahead of our other guests. In reality, he hadn’t twigged that we were heading to Stansted, and that our accompanying the ‘Manchester’ crowd would put us at the airport with 4 hours to kill. Given that there were 4 of us travelling, it would have been nice to have been offered a bespoke transfer opportunity for the return trip. That said, with some tricky snow conditions coming off the mountain back to the airport, I was extremely impressed by the coach drivers skill at navigating the hairpin bends! Ski and boot hire was fabulous with kit delivered to the chalet, and returned for us after use - a great service, as was the provision of lift passes. We used the services of a sports massage, Kate from MassageMe, and again this was exceptional. Rooms were fine (cosy with either underfloor heating or electric radiator), but given that the accommodation is not that old, there were a number of issues that our hosts tried to address. While lighting in the rooms is dingy, there were some bulbs also that did not function. Of most concerns was that boot room, where a non-functioning boot warmer had been replaced by an electric heater, and a lack of lighting by a bedside lamp! Now, I would have thought that placing an electric heater under dripping boots was probably not a good idea, but one of our guests knocked over the lamp and broke it - and you can imagine the amount of water in the boat room from melting snow. The lamp was replace by a more robust tube, g-clamped to a shelf, but not really what you would expect. Service from the chalet team (Sam and Matt) was exceptional and professional. Their insight in to the resort was first rate. I’m sure that by the end of the season, Matt will be able to light the fire... Luckily, Sam is a fire-god. In terms of catering, I still can’t quite get my head around a free beer fridge, fizz, wine and canapés, but having to pay for an honesty bar of coke and crisps - there was more admin to settle the Eu1.50 for a coke, than booking the holiday (ok, a big exaggeration but you get the point). Issac, our chef, was a master of cake and desserts. His meals were good honest food, with some bordering on the VIP standard we had expected - we never went hungry, and there was always excellent cheese to follow the meal, I personally would have liked slightly better quality and less quantity. He kindly packed us off with fantastic bacon sandwiches for our Grenoble Airport picnic. So, if our expectations had maybe been a little lower, this would have been close to a 10/10 holiday. However, we were looking for that VIP experience, and this time I would probably rate it as 8.5/10 against that benchmark.

Everything was great from the location to the food and most important the service. All the staff were attentive and keen to make sure we had everything we needed-nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is very comfortable but is in need of upgrading now - as is the Internet. It was nicer this year having the hotel to ourselves and not sharing it with the public during the day. You can't get a better location !!

Chalet hosts were great fun, extremely professional and very good at their jobs. They were always organised, worked fantastically together and clearly took pride in their work. Location was excellent and piste access was very good. Only suggestions would be option to leave non-publicly published feedback, and perhaps some hams/cheeses for the continental breakfast on the host day off.

Great service offered by VIP with smooth transitions to and from the airport and a lift from our chalet to the ski lift each day. We were spoiled with Callum's hospitality and delicious home cooked meals, we were never left hungry. Our group all agreed the 3 valleys is the best place we have been skiing with a massive amount of terrain for all abilities. Chalet Yukon was modern and comfortable and the hot tub was a real treat after a day on the slopes.

Cannot fault anything - even the weather was great. The chalet is in an excellent position for the pistes and even non-skiers have an easy route into the centre via Jardin Alpin lift. Allie and Andy, our hosts are a great team- their work appeared effortless and were always bright and enthusiastic. Food was excellent.

  • Great holiday in a new resort to us

    Tim Graves 27 Jan 2019

Another great holiday with VIP. As always the staff were excellent and Freddy and Liv did a fantastic job looking after us, and along with the resort manager Will were very helpful as sorting things out when one of our party had a minor on slope injury. The food was excellent, varies and well prepared, and I'm glad that VIP have changed the standard menu, after 5 seasons in a row it's good to have something different. The Chalet is good, and well appointed, and decorated in a "modern" style, personally I'm not a great fan of black stained wood (It can be overdone and then looks oppressive), but others in the party who are more with it than me said it was a good balance and nicely done. As a new chalet there are some teething problems, the TV in one room didn't work and a shower leaked a bit, but these were very minor and didn't detract from out holiday at all (though the shower leak probably does need to be sorted before the tiles start lifting) We'd never skied in Avoriaz / Portes-du-Soleil before, the resort is good and high at 1800m to likely to have good snow for most of the season, what we hadn't realised is just how enteral Avoriaz is to the larger resort area, it's very easy to connect to Morzine / Les Gets, Chatel and the Swiss slopes (but be careful to avoid "The Swiss Wall" if your group is not composed entirely of excellent skiers.
