Testimonials

Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

Seamless flight and transfer, warm welcome from Sue and Alice on arrival. Chalet was great and our room was spacious. Food was wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal every night. Afternoon cakes were scrummy. We will be taking some of the recipes home with us. We will definitely be using VIP again.

Lottie was super helpful when we decided to look for a cheeky last minute ski break and Annie was just as great when we arrived! Also a shout out to Sarah who came to let us in and make sure we had everything we needed. Thanks so much!

  • Shattered but happy!

This was a great holiday, after a bit of a shaky start for me, on the slopes. The conditions were mainly very good, and plenty of variety too. Great mountain and resort level restaurants, and all the staff so friendly and accommodating. Chalet Kakisa was cosy, warm, spacious and spotlessly clean, and Freddie and Liv were lovely, and so good to us, and nothing was too much trouble. The food they cooked was wonderful, and quite different, for me, having never stayed in a chalet before. A big big thank you to all of the V.I. P. staff, I'll never forget you.

  • Thank you to the whole VIP team - including the office staff

I would like to thank the whole VIP team for a great week's holiday. Not only were the team in resort fantastic (from dealing with our luggage, transfers & lift passes to the great hot chocolate we had while waiting for our snowcat transfer to the chalet), but the office team were truly helpful and friendly, really helping us with a last minute booking change - thanks to Andy, Katie, Libby and everyone else I spoke to! The chalet was immaculate, and although I agree that the bedrooms are compact, the location on the piste made up for that. The food was great, and extra care had been given to our special requests in terms of menu and even ensuring the coffee machine was working and that there was a plentiful supply of decaf capsules. A really big thank you to our chalet hosts, but to EVERYONE in the wider VIP team who helped make it such a great trip. We were impressed with VIP before: now we are true converts.

  • Great holiday with VIP

We were very happy with the high quality of the accommodation, service and food we received from chalet hosts Maddie & Connie. Disappointed that the originally advertised driver service for this location has been withdrawn. It is a long walk into town in the evening and a real hike back up the hill or an expensive taxi. The night life is limited in 1850 so having reached town it is then a bus ride to the other villages - a driver service would have made a big difference for our group. Otherwise we had a fantastic week skiing and would definitely recommend VIP.

  • Annual ski trip

This was our first visit to Avoriaz, really enjoyed it. Great variety in runs and areas, if the weather changes or it gets busy. Transfer, from the coach to the chalet was exciting! The chalet is new and has a few minor teething issues, but overall it was excellent. Liv and Freddie were excellent hosts and sorted my menu issues out. Short walk to the slopes and a slightly longer one to get home, (not Ski in/out but almost). Great local bars and restaurants. Slight issue with The French snowcat pick up (late) but out of VIP’s hands. Made our check in and flight. Check out the SMILE in the sky, free photo on the chair lift, near Champoussin. Overall very happy with our choice, this year

  • Our Group's Holiday at Chalet Kakisa, Avoriaz

Arriving with a car in a car free resort As a group of 8 people with 2 self-drive and 6 arriving from two different airports at different times we know we set VIP a potential logistical nightmare. But they manage this well, and we have done this with them for some years now. Our week happened to coincide with a change of Resort Manager. Just before we (the two self-drive) arrived we called Tim (Resort Manager) and he organised for us and our bags to move from the covered parking at the edge of the resort. Beautifully done too. Tim and Emily met us as we arrived at the carpark and were so helpful. As we were to discover, getting the Avoriaz Cat-Track Taxi Service to adhere to the customer's timetable isn't easy but this was superbly done. The rest of our group arrived while we two managed a few hours skiing thanks to the fantastic chalet staff at Kakisa, Freddie and "Liv" (Olivia), who found us somewhere to change while they continued to clean the chalet after the previous group of guests. We know that we can't always expect it but this was just typical of how these two were so helpful throughout the week. The Chalet Chalet Kakisa is a very new building and a very striking design. I can see the VIP MD Andy's design eye has been on the case here. The overall is very impressive from outside and inside. A very modern look to Chalet Kakisa in a resort planned by the French in the 60s and mostly built back then too! It is also functional with good storage and plenty of space within bedrooms and communal areas. Just a few more coat hooks might be useful around the boot room and front door area. We happened upon a problem with the shower in our room during the week. Within a matter of a few hours someone was looking at this for us. This has been our experience before too, if a problem arises VIP are keen to solve this. Even with weather disrupting travel they cope amazingly well, in fact better than their much larger competitors. Chalet Staff As well as their help on arrival at the chalet Freddie and Liv operated to an incredibly high standard all week. If you wanted something they did their utmost to do it for you. The food and service were first class, delivered in a friendly manner. After working for 20 years in hospitality I know it isn't easy to achieve such service and always smile as you do, but they were superb at this. The way that they worked together and their interaction with us the guests was great. Leaving at the end of the week Well none of us wanted to after such hospitality but leave we must. Will, Tim's successor, organised the local Avoriaz Cat-Track Taxi Service to collect our luggage on Saturday night as we requested. This was so that we could load the car that evening at the carpark for an early start to our drive home on Sunday. As we discovered the service doesn't quite run to time as booked when they are busy, but Will and his colleagues were so accommodating, helping us with loading luggage. In fact, they really did this for us, plus got us back to the Chalet in good time for our meal that final evening. Thank you Many thanks to all who made this another fabulous VIP Ski Holiday, from the many staff we spoke to in the office to arrange this holiday to Tim who kindly saw us off from the carpark early on Sunday morning.

All the staff at VIP were very helpful, friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and they were charming and good company. Transportation was seamless. Chalet is very well appointed and in a great location and it will be high on our list when we come to book a ski holiday next year.

  • Eight years on...

    Chris Richards 30 Jan 2019

We first visited Altitude Lodge in March 2011 and have been back many times - we mostly learnt to ski in Les Gets (with some additional VIP trips to La Plagne...). So of course we like just about everything about Altitude Lodge and the ski area it gives access to. Being able to ski in and ski out is a high priority for us. This time we booked Room 3 which isn't really ideal for two people - there's not much room to move and quite limited storage space. But it does have a balcony facing out to the piste - maybe it's better as a summer or spring room? The food was pretty good this time - including most of the vegetarian dishes. The fish was maybe a little disappointing - frozen perhaps. The breakfast is good enough but maybe some kind of muesli could be provided - and some proper plain live yoghurt. It would help to have an additional toaster as there was some congestion with both staff and guests using it at the same time. We really enjoyed meeting the staff and everyone did as much as could be expected to make the week flow smoothly - thank you!
