Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. We're laying it bare, warts and all, and with the name of the writer attached. It’s not easy to look at yourself objectively, so don’t listen to us, listen to our guests.

This is quite note of feedback for our fantastic Chalet Hosts and Chalet and provider. We had a great week and everything was taken care of graciously and professionally. I have a special word of complement for Barry, Chris and Cat - our Chalet Hosts in Muscat Chalet. The service was brilliant and the food was exceptional all week. Barry was very professional and kind to the new Chalet hosts Chris and Cat. Thank you. Please can you feed this back to the three of them. We will be strongly thinking of VIP again soon - when our holidays and bank accounts allow it again! Many, many thanks and well done Barry and VIP ski.

  • Our holiday in Haus Gamskar

    David Mungall 20 Mar 2014

    THE CHALET:
Haus Gamskar was excellent. Really nice. Very comfortable. We particularly liked the instant on-demand hot water with good water pressure; the comfy seating area and open plan dining room. The balcony on our room was particularly welcome as the weather was so good. We felt it was well-located near to Nassereinbahn, which was very convenient. However, we did not feel it was truly "ski-in ski out". Perhaps that was because the ground snow had gone at this point of the season. I found the Samsung TV sound-quality was quite poor when we watched DVDs. Maybe some booster-speakers are needed. I liked the sound-proofing on the bedroom doors very effective as my room was next to the TV area and yet wasn't disturbed when my friends were watching TV and laughing ... a lot!

    THE FOOD:
Overall the standard of food was very high. We are a fussy bunch who include a former restaurant owner, and yet there were items we raved about ... the duck main, the fish main, and the beef wellington were all of high restaurant quality. Well done! Some of the puddings were also excellent. The starters were less impressive ... either small portions or boring items ... but I presume this was due to the menu plan, not the cooking. The tomato soup was good. The afternoon tea cakes were either excellent (chocolate cake, lemon drizzle cake, the vicotria sponge, for example) or a bit dry (the marble cake). The flapjack wasn't a big hit either. But I would put this down to the recipe, not the cooks.

    THE STAFF:
Tim was a great resort host ... he was knowledgable, smart and funny. We felt in good hands. And he had a very good attitude that gave us great confidence that we could leave anything with him and it would be fixed with no fuss. Gavin and Izzy... the perfect hosts. Everything ran smoothly. Everything happened exactly on time. The food was very good. Every request was accommodated. They did all of that and created a very nice atmosphere of staying with real people whom we were glad to be sharing a home with. They did the welcome chat with great charm. You have a two stars there.

    Other comments:
1.We felt an ice machine in the fridge would have been helpful - you can never have enough ice for drinks! 2.Perhaps leave a kettle out on the main bar area so we can have freshly boiled water for the afternoon tea without going in to the kitchen 3.One friend commented the fruit bowl was well-stocked 4.Good cheese selection 5.Good wine selection - there was only one we all disliked 6.Honesty bar was useful 7.It is a pity there was no microwave as skiers often want to heat up a muscle relief pad in the microwave.

This year was I think the 5th time I have stayed in a VIP chalet, and my experience was one of extremes. Good points first: the chalet staff were lovely. Very welcoming, friendly and pretty accomplished in the kitchen. This has always been my experience of VIP staff and is the main reason why I keep coming back. The drivers and resort manager are the same - all in all a very nice gang of people and keen to keep their customers happy. Now for the not-so good, and this is what I relayed to VIP staff in resort: The transfer was horrible. The coach was set up (as has been the case when travelling with VIP in the past) for children/very small people. My boyfriend, along with several other men on the coach were physically unable to sit in the seats without sitting sideways. I myself, at 5'3" struggled. This is ludicrous given the fact that we were all told to wear our seatbelts because of tight safety regulations. In addition, on the transfer out to the resort we were told (after leaving the airport) that the toilet was not functioning as "they don't like to turn them on in winter because of the pipes". It was 15 degrees outside. All the members of our chalet were dreading the transfer back because of the coach. My second issue which has been a recurring theme is the beds in the chalets. The mattresses are cheap and the springs protrude, so much so that one of the girls in our chalet was bruised and had to request a new mattress. All the people in our chalet commented on the lack of comfort in this respect. I feel that some relatively small investment in mattresses or at least mattress toppers would make for a much more pleasurable customer experience. Your holidays are not budget - they are sold as a luxury experience and priced accordingly. I think VIP management need to take a closer look at these 2 elements and consider whether what is currently offered is really appropriate given the price of the holiday. If you want to keep your customers there comes a point where having nice chalet staff just cannot compensate for what appears to be cost cutting in fundamental areas so I would strongly urge you to look at these issues.

  • wonderful stay in Muscat, Bellvarde Lodge

Our chalet was absolutely beautiful and our hosts Jonny and Clare were amazing- nothing was too much trouble and the cooking was impeccable. As well as the chalet being fantastic (beautiful building, hot tub on the balcony, ski-in, ski-out, heated ski locker- basically everything you could ask for) the VIP service was second to none as well- delivering suitcases from the airport to your room, champagne and canapés, use of the shuttle bus- all this made this holiday a cut above any previous ski holiday we have been on. Only one suggestion/request- more complimentary bottled water in the chalet as not everyone wants to drink tap water abroad and the supplies in the honesty bar were not enough for everyone. But other than that, faultless- we will be back!

  • Fantastic week in the three valleys

We had a great weeks skiing in the 3 valleys in the warmest conditions I have ever skied in. Malcolm and Helen were fantastic hosts catering for the various dietary requirements in the group. Lovely chalet with great food. The only annoying thing is that the hot tub kicks in about every 30 mins throughout the night which vibrates through the bedrooms which makes for very broken sleep.

  • Great chalet

The chalet we stayed in was warm, welcoming and fun. the people that were put together worked very well together! the chalet girls were both super friendly and executed everything very well. My ongoing criticism with chalets is that the menus tend to try rather too hard with international fare etc when most people would love a simpler English hearty meal at the end of the day - and this was the same with VIP - but this is not the fault of the chalet girls who cooked everything well, kept the place spotless and were super friendly and helpful. Was a little annoying that our front door had an issue - I had to call from assistance as I could not get in one afternoon, and while I was let into the chalet (the gentlemen got in through the downstairs and let me in) the door wasn't actually fixed, but was diagnosed as "sticking", which meant others had the same problem later in the week. I also think as a tip the chalets could usse marking with names externally as early in the week it was quite hard to figure out which one was ours! But overall a very good trip thanks to the chalet staff
