Clearly we think we're great, why come to work otherwise. But what do our customers say? We know that web sites are littered with anonymous out of date testimonials that it’s difficult to trust, but we're displaying comments written by our current and recent guests live, here on our web site. As I write this I am researching our 2016 group chalet holiday, which will be our seventh. This is the first time I have found myself factoring a particular TO into the decision making process, such was the quality of our recent week with VIP Ski. Chalet La Ferme in Alpe d'Huez is a lovely wooden building with large rooms, high ceilings, and balconies with views directly over the piste. The showers worked, cleaning was impeccable, and even with extremely low snow spring conditions, the chalet was genuinely ski in/out; the piste is literally metres from the door. What really made VIP ski stand out however, was the quality of the service we received from Chris and Gabe. They are excellent cooks, even accommodating a couple of 'flexi-tarians' ;-) but most importantly their attention to detail is what really stood out for me. Throughout the week they listened to the group's mixed requirements and made small amendments to the service, elevating it beyond that which I have received on similar holidays. If like I was a few months ago, you are reading these reviews and wondering whether VIP ski is a worthwhile step up in quality from some of the other well known operators, I would compel you to try them. Ps.. They bring you cups of tea in bed!!!!

  • Excellent first family skiing holiday

We absolutely loved our chalet La Garda and Amelia looked after us very well. The location of the chalet was outstanding, completely surpassing any expectations. It could not have been easy to get to the lifts, ski school and the view of the alpine scene was mesmerising. The food was delicious. The chalet was very cosy and we didn't want to leave it, we loved it. A few minor niggles: - bed in double room needed a new mattress in our opinion - we preferred to have just one chalet hostess, Amelia, rather than two (when Sophie helped out). Sophie was very helpful and a great cook, but we felt the service was more discreet with just one person cooking etc, especially as we were just 2 adults, 3 kids. - we thought that other VIP staff should knock before entering the chalet rather than just enter. They were all charming when they did enter, but it made us feel less at home thinking that they could enter at any point. - we were disappointed that there were not more activities in La Plagne for the evening for our 3 very energetic boys. A hot tub would have been ideal as our 5 year old did get cabin fever around 6pm as he had done less skiing than the older ones.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Simon and Rufus for looking after us so well last week. The chalet was super, hot tub was a real bonus and the food was super! I am very much missing not having a cake made for me when I return home each day this week :-)

  • A bit hit and miss

We had a good week and enjoyed our stay, but if VIP is seeking to be a top tier ski holiday provider, it doesn't quite make it. The booking experience was easy and the VIP office very responsive and helpful - it's a great idea to be able to pre-book skis, lift passes and lessons. However, VIP did not follow this through. Our lift passes weren't delivered to us until late in the evening so we were unable to take advantage of the ability (as permitted by the terms of the ski pass) to use the pass after 4pm - this would have been great as we were in the resort by 1.30pm. With hindsight we would have been better off just buying the passes on arrival in resort. Also, pre-booking the skis was irrelevant - we still had to complete the form all over again. Haus Gamskar was great - very comfortable (if a little warm), with spacious rooms, well thought out storage, excellent bathrooms with fantastic showers. The hospitality provided by Huw and Vicki was mixed - Huw was charming and obliging if somewhat dishevelled. Vicki was efficient and clearly competent but her manner was somewhat grudging. Dinners were prompt and of a high standard and the morning cup of tea was much appreciated. However breakfast was a shambles - cooked breakfasts took forever to appear, jams (a nondescript red jam and some fairly awful marmalade) appeared in the same unpleasantly sticky ramekins every day and everything appeared on the table wrapped in yucky cling film - surely this can come off before the milk etc are put on the table? On other non-VIP ski trips, a much better range of jams has been provided and also cheese and ham. I would expect this for the VIP price. Vicki definitely blotted her copy book by refusing to provide a cooked breakfast for one of our group on the last day because "breakfast has finished" - this at 7.30am for a 8.15am departure and despite this person having requested a cooked breakfast every day of the holiday. This did not impress. The resort manager also promised to pop by a couple of times but most of the party did not see him on the second occasion. The free driver service is a nice touch - unfortunately the number for the driver on all of the cards handed out was wrong and the chalet phone didn't work so most of the time this was more hassle than it was worth. On balance, the service provided by VIP in resort, did not live up to its name nor did it live up to the standard of service provided by the office here in Britain. We have had much professional service from other tour operators at a better price. YSE, for example, is much slicker - just a pity they don't operate in St Anton.

  • 2nd trip to Alpe D'Huez with VIP

This was another successful holiday with VIP. Our group is of mixed ability, so the ski in ski out chalet location is ideal for us. The travel logistics all worked well and the chalet was big enough for our needs but also small enough to be cozy. Our hosts, Charlie and Bryony were welcoming and helpful and Charlie's out-going personality certainly made us all smile. The chalet was clean and we were pleased to see an improvement in catering standards following one or two blips last year. All in all, a great trip and we will certainly look to use VIP again.

  • Amazing hotel with outstanding service...its all in the small touches!

From arrival at the airport to leaving again, the VIP service was outstanding! The food was of the highest standard (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner), the complimentary house wine was very tasty, the shuttle service was efficient and the service from the chalet hosts and hostesses was excellent. No question was too big or too small, and we were always greeted with a smile! The small touches really made the week (the notes from the cleaning team, the birthday cake, the morning wake up call to make it to the airport, asking how we were progressing with skiing). Sitting people around larger tables for meals made for a really social atmosphere, and the fellow guests were a great laugh. We happened to be there at the same time as Telegraph Ski, and though not a part of the group, they made us very welcome in the activities at the hotel (talk with Graham Bell, prizegiving etc) As total beginners to skiing, the resort itself was a challenge though the local ski school was more than prepared for beginners and the trainers were very patient, and focused on technique. The groups were small (6 people on average) and the training adapted to the group. Most of the group were successful in getting to St Anton reds by the end of the week (which people say are harder here than in other resorts). Then the apres was very lively, with something going on all of the time. This was a great resort for all ages, and the road meant that even if you are a beginner/ arent skiing you can still join in the fun!

  • A great week

A great chalet with big rooms, a great layout and lovely ski in ski out location. Harriet and Dave were great and cooked up a storm. The food has been a let down in the past but it was excellent t this year. Thank you to you both. Other than one or two minor cleanliness issues around the kitchen area, there was nothing to fault at all and we all had a wonderful time. The nannies Lily and Marie were first rate and so friendly and professional. Our boys loved them and we felt 100% happy and comfortable leaving the boys alone with them. Please just move the hot tub outside. Thank you VIP. Please build more 14 man chalets!
