Heathrow is one of six international airports serving the London region. There are four operating terminals at Heathrow and a 5th smaller terminal reserved for royals, heads of states and select celebrities. There are a number of car-parking options available, both on and off the airport, should you choose to drive to Heathrow airport. With the airport only 20 miles west of London there are several convenient bus and train links.

One of the most popular ski resorts in the Alps, Val d’Isere doesn’t usually need much of an introduction. This fantastic resort offers endless skiing terrain for all abilities. The link to neighbouring Tignes gives access to 300km of piste with a skiing altitude up to 3465m. The resort itself is a charming Savoyard village with shops, bars, restaurants and a lively après ski scene.

Avoriaz is a wonderful, car-free resorts sitting just above the popular resort of Morzine. Sitting at 1800m Avoriaz is the highest and by far the most snow sure resort in the huge Portes du Soleil ski area. Its unique architectural style is not to everyone’s taste, but this ski in ski out resort has a wonderful, friendly feel, is great for all skiing abilities and has a cheeky side for those looking for lively après ski.

Morzine is the largest of the towns and villages in the Portes du Soleil ski area. The resort itself spreads out along the valley floor for 2 km and definitely feels more like a town than some of the smaller, purpose built ski resorts. It has a traditional market town feel, with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants, and a welcoming vibe from the locals.

Les Gets is the ideal resort for anyone looking for a traditional French Alpine experience. Much quieter than its better known neighbour, Morzine, but still giving access into the massive Portes du Soleil ski area. The resort centre is a wonderful mix of cobbled streets with traditional shops, bars and restaurants. A popular choice for families with young children given the short airport transfer.
