The most obvious role when thinking about ski jobs is the ever popular ‘chalet host’ role, but there are loads of other opportunities for skilled and experienced people to spend a winter working in the Alps.

Here’s our list of 5 other ski jobs;

1. Maintenance Man

Take your hammer & screwdriver to the mountains!

Our maintenance team are generally referred to as the ‘backbone of the resort’ and are renowned for keeping things running smoothly and effortlessly behind the scenes.

Perfect ski job for: Those with previous experience or qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating or electrics.

2. Private Nanny

Take your skills to the stunning surroundings of the French Alps!

There aren’t many ways to earn a living by building snowmen, creating a glittery masterpiece or going on a trip for hot chocolate, but being a private nanny is one.

Perfect ski job for: Hard working and enthusiastic child carers, qualified to NNEB, CACHE, NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent. Or teachers or nurses with experience working with young children.

3. Logistics Co-ordinator

Keep juggling and don’t drop any balls!

Perfect ski job for: Those with a season or two already under their belt and experience of managing and motivating staff.  A job for those who thrive in a varied role and exhibit a great deal of flexibility.

4. Head Chef

Aka the kitchen superhero

Your creativity and menus will set the guests taste buds tingling and keep them talking for months about the fabulous food on their ski holiday. It’s a demanding job but hey, better a kitchen in the Alps than a kitchen in the UK during the winter months.

Perfect ski job for: Experienced and qualified chefs with an equal love for their culinary art and skiing or snowboarding.

5. Kitchen Porter

Buy some rubber gloves…and hand cream!

There’s no denying the job of KP is physically demanding and you’ll be working in a hot and busy environment. But’s it’s certainly character building, and can be the first step on the ladder if you’re an aspiring chef.

Perfect ski job for: Hardworking, dedicated individuals with a good sense of humour. Someone willing to knuckle down and get the job done (then make the most of the skiing).
