Gavi la Batistina 2017 - €14
REGION: Piedmonte, North Western Italy
GRAPE: Cortese
Really top-quality Gavi, made from the Cortese (or Gavi) grape in Piedmont in NW Italy. Complex and enchanting on the nose with notes of white peach, pear and acacia blossom, it has a lovely round feel in the mouth, with flavours of apple and lime whilst gently nutty.
Saint Jaques Albas Blanc Organic 2021 - €23
REGION: Languedoc, France
GRAPE: Marsanne Vignier
An unusual but exciting blend of Roussanne and Marsanne. Intense and complex aromas from floral notes to tropical fruit and spice. With Saint Jaques Albas’ signature length on the finish, this is a complex and seductive wine.
Saraja Kintari 2021 - €27
REGION: Sardinia, Italy
GRAPE: Vermentino
Elegant, long and complex, this wine from the sun-baked vineyards of Sardinia has lovely aromas of stone fruits with a saline finish.
Like silk to the taste.
Vignerons de Buxy Tete de Cuvee 2022, AOC Montagny 1er Cru - €28
REGION: Burgundy
GRAPE: France
Here is a beautifully rounded oaked Chardonnay from premier cru vineyards. A subtle nose – as far away as you could possibly get from Aussie or Californian oaked Chardonnays. Toasty notes, allied to the gentle creamy butteriness that is so typical of Chardonnay. The wine is hitting its peak right now, having benefitted from a few years of bottle age.
Sancerre Fouassier 2022 - €31
REGION: Loire Valley
GRAPE: Sauvignon Blanc
Domaine Fouassier is a bio-dynamically-run estate in the classic Loire Valley appellation of Sancerre. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine has all the hallmark freshness and citrus fruit that you would expect from the area. But it has a riper richness, too – a fuller mouth feel than many wines of the region, with notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and passion fruit.
Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2022, Louis Moreau - €33
REGION: Burgundy, France
GRAPE: Chardonnay
The wine is bone dry with a crisp, refreshing minerality and is packed with lots of ripe lemons, grapefruits and green apples. Secondary characteristics of honey and beeswax entice the senses and make this an absolute pleasure to drink.
Petit Laurence Bordeaux 2016 - €19
REGION: Bordeaux, France
GRAPE: Merlot
The second wine of Chateau Laurence, this fruity and easy to drink Bordeaux is full of aromas of red fruits with soft tannins. Perfect for the everyday.
Fourmone ‘La Poete’ Vacqueyras 2024 - €27
REGION: Vacqueras, Rhone, France
GRAPES: Grenache, Syrah
On the nose it has mentholated notes with a feeling of freshness and leather and mocha perfume. On the palate there are red and black fruit aromas and subtle tannins. This is a greedy and persistent wine.
Domaine Ghislain Kohut Marsannay, ‘les Champs Perdrix’ 2021 - €34
REGION: Marsannay, Burgundy, France
GRAPE: Pinot Noir
From the up-and-coming Marsannay appellation, this elegant wine offers classic Pinot Noir characteristics, along with a concentration that is often lacking from this end of Burgundy. Notes of forest fruits and smokiness on the nose and palate. With a few years under its belt now, it’s really starting to hit its stride.
Mont-Redon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2020 - €34
REGION: Rhone, France
GRAPES: Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre
A Southern French classic from this hugely respected, family-owned estate (sold in the UK by the Wine Society). Look for lots of husky spicy notes and warm ripe fruits – a great gulp of southern sunshine in a bottle. With a few years under its belt now, the tannins have softened beautifully, and the finish is long.
Produttori di Barbaresco – Barbaresco 2020 - €45
REGION: Piedmonte, North Western Italy
GRAPE: Nebbiolo
Barbaresco is a village southeast of Turin, whose wines must be made with the Nebbiolo grape. This wine is produced by the local cooperative, but forget any notions of mass-produced plonk, these guys are artisans of the highest order. Flavours of spices, pepper and black cherries are present on the nose and palate. Powerful, firm yet elegant.
M de Minuty - €30
