What do skiers really think about food on a ski holiday?

Mountain lunches or more time on the slopes? Fondue or tartiflette? And when you’re choosing a ski holiday, just how much does the food matter?

Food has always been a big part of a week in the mountains. There’s the first coffee before heading out, lunch on the mountain, afternoon tea waiting back at the chalet and, of course, dinner at the end of a day on the slopes.

But what really matters to skiers today? We’d love to know what you think.

We’re exploring how food fits into the ski holiday experience – from how much it influences where you choose to stay to mountain lunches, chalet dinners and the little things you look forward to after a day on the slopes.

Our short survey – 19 multiple-choice questions taking around 5 minutes – will help us better understand what skiers really want from food in the mountains.

Everyone who completes the survey can enter our prize draw, with three chances to escape to Val d’Isère next April.

Once the responses are in, we’ll be taking a closer look at what skiers have told us – what matters, what doesn’t, and whether we really can agree on the perfect food for a week in the mountains. We’ll share some of the findings here on the VIP SKI blog.

Prize draw terms & conditions

1. The prize draw is open to UK residents aged 18 or over who have been on a ski holiday, excluding employees of VIP SKI and anyone professionally associated with the promotion.
2. To enter, participants must complete the VIP SKI Ski Holiday Food Survey and provide the details requested for entry into the prize draw.
3. Entry is free and no purchase is necessary. Only one entry per person is permitted.
4. The prize draw closes at 11.59pm on Monday 26 October 2026. Entries received after this time will not be included.
5. There are there prizes, all for a seven-night stay for two people at No. 1 Aspen House, Val d'Isère, arriving 11 April 2027:
First prize: A complimentary seven-night stay for two people.
Two runner-up prizes: A 50% discount on a seven-night stay for two people on the same departure date.
The holiday is currently priced from £1,523 per person, based on two people sharing.
6. The holiday includes chalet-board accommodation: cooked breakfast, afternoon tea, a three-course evening meal on six nights with house wines, and a canapé reception on two nights. Return group transfers between Geneva Airport and Val d’Isère are also included, subject to VIP SKI’s scheduled transfer times and conditions.
7. Flights are not included. The prizes also exclude travel to and from Geneva Airport, travel insurance, ski passes, ski school, ski or snowboard equipment hire, personal spending and any food, drink, activities or other expenses not expressly included above.
8. The winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received before the closing date. The first eligible entry selected will receive the first prize, with the next two eligible entries receiving the runner-up prizes.
9. Winners will be contacted using the details supplied when entering the prize draw. If a winner does not respond within 14 days of being contacted, VIP SKI reserves the right to select another winner.
10. The prizes must be accepted as offered and used for the specified arrival date of 11 April 2027. They are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, another departure date or an alternative holiday.
11. If a winner is unable to travel for any reason, no alternative prize, refund or compensation will be offered.
12. It is the responsibility of each winner and their travelling companion to ensure that they have valid passports, appropriate travel insurance and any visas, health documentation or other documentation required to travel to France.
13. Any costs, taxes or expenses incurred in connection with the prize that are not expressly included above are the responsibility of the winner. 
14. VIP SKI reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the prize draw where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this unavoidable.
15. Personal information supplied in connection with the prize draw will be used to administer the promotion and contact the winners. Any use of personal information for marketing purposes will be subject to the entrant’s separate marketing preferences.
