Happy spaces

Our hotel and suite complex in Arc 1950 boasts Bear Cubs, a well-equipped wonderful light and airy space, full of sun and right next to the piste and outdoor play area. You can wave to your little ones throughout the day from the piste and without even having to pop your bindings. In Altitude Lodge, Les Gets, Bear Cubs is a few steps from the boot room and piste. Both dedicated rooms are stuffed full of toys and entertainment for every age and large enough for a quiet sleep in one corner whilst others splash paint in the other.

Welcome Meeting

We know how daunting it can be planning your ski time with childcare, perhaps an even more daunting experience for the children in a new place, and so we arrange for a welcome meeting at Bear Cubs at 08.30 on a Monday morning. This is a good opportunity to meet the nannies, chat through the week ahead, and let us know your children’s routine.

What to expect

The children have endless fun inside and out, from arts and crafts, treasure hunts and storytelling, to building igloos, bum boarding and songs. Weather permitting, and with your consent, they will go out for walks, trips on the bubble, build snowmen and have fun in the snow. We know all the best sledging areas, tastiest hot chocolate and hidden secrets of the resort.

Lunchtime

We provide a supervised lunch either in our restaurant or in Bear Cubs itself. Lunch time will involve something fresh and nutritious, but most importantly something your child actually likes. Your nanny will discuss this with you when you arrive. For younger infants on bottles or purees, we will happily prepare any feeds required

Flexible hours

Bear Cubs is open between 9am and 5pm everyday except Thursday when we close at 1pm. We can look after your little one for as long or as little as you like within that time.

Ratios and availability

We work to extremely strict ratios, tighter than the statutory minimums, to ensure the quality of our care. The number of youngsters that we are able to look after will vary according to the age mix on each particular week. Please call our sales team for advice on current availability.

Prices quoted are for 5½ days with a half-day with a half-day on a Thursday when we close at 1pm. Don’t worry, we still pick up from ski school and provide lunch on this day.

Babies under 4 months old
We want all the family to experience the delights of snow, so will endeavour to provide childcare service for little ones as young as 12 weeks old. Please do call our sales team on 0203 892 4060 to discuss your requirements.

Polar Bears (Aged 8+)

Whilst our Bear Cub Playroom in Les Arcs is a cool place to hang out, bang on the piste and next to the front door, convenient for outdoor play, easy for ski instructors to pick up and drop off and easy for parents to peek without having to pop their bindings, for the slightly older children we take them away for activities better suited to their age. The sloth of Polar Bears each week will be able to play waterpolo in the pool, pool, junior pub quiz and mocktail making sessions in the bar, babyfoot, basketball, football and half-pickleball on our new micro-court off the gym, cinema club, or maybe quiet time reading a book in the lounge. There are also wider opportunities around the resort including the igloo village, minigolf and snowshoeing. Polar Bears is not available in Les Gets but generally the group sizes and age differentials are much less and we can coordinate and adapt activities to keep everyone happy and engaged throughout the day.

Pyjama Club

Our Pyjama Club in Les Arcs is for those over the age of 4 and who aren’t quite ready for bed when parents who would like dinner in peace; cinema nights, popcorn, stories, hot chocolate or quiet games and colouring before bedtime. We don’t provide this service in Altitude Lodge as it is easy for you to pop the children in the playroom downstairs and fire up the projector and cinema screen for a little quite time.

Pyjama Club is €10 per child. Paid locally and subject to availability.

Babysitting

For those not staying in our hotels we are more than happy to organise babysitting on the chalet host's night off. This will be charged locally at: €20 per hour (€25 New Year’s Eve) before midnight and €25 (€30 New Year’s Eve) after midnight. You can email our Sales Team to book this service prior to your holiday or arrange in resort subject to availability.

Ski school for the littl’uns in Arc 1950

We know that you won’t be able to relax until you are sure that their children are enjoying their ski lessons and being looked after well. We have our own private ESF Club Piou Piou snow garden right outside the Bear Cub playroom in Les Arcs and the beginner’s area is only a short distance away in Les Gets. Whatever their age, if you have booked full day or half-day childcare then our nannies will liaise with the instructors, check your child has gloves, goggles and sunblock in the morning and collect your precious package in time for lunch.
