Activities on and off the piste in Val d'Isere

Husky dogs pulling sled in snow

Updated March 2024

Most would say Val d’Isere is the most well-known French ski resort, but it is so much more than a ski resort, indeed, you could have an amazing holiday in Val d’Isere without putting on a pair of skis.

Val d'Isere plays host to a variety of activities and snow sports during the winter months. Why not go for a swim, visit a museum, watch a film, book a treatment at the spa, or dine out and enjoy French cuisine and a glass of wine?

Husky Sleigh Rides

Get a taste of Alaska on a husky powered sledge whilst taking in the breath-taking mountain scenery. This activity takes place every day in the resort of either Tignes or Ste Foy and on certain days in Val d’Isère with Evolution 2.

What you need to know:

Snowmobile / Skidooing

Once the ski runs have closed for the day, try your hand at driving these 500cc two-seater motorbikes built specially for the snow. With the rear wheel replaced by a caterpillar track for momentum and the front wheel swapped for a pair of skis for steering, these snowmobiles are incredibly quick. After some expert instruction you will soon be out enjoying the circuit at the bottom of the Tommeuses chairlift with breathtaking views of Mont-Blanc, Bellevarde and La Sache peaks, Lac du Chevril and the Tignes dam.

What you need to know:

  • From €80 (or €40 as a passenger of the guide) with Evolution 2.
If you're riding as a duo, you can swap places halfway through the tour if you're both over 18 and hold a valid B licence.

Quad, buggy or car... The perfect way to have fun on the ice in Tignes! This activity takes place in Tignes Les Brévières and the circuit is accessible by car, on foot (descent from Tignes 1800 using the Brévières gondola) or by ski (ensure to remember a change of footwear suitable from driving!)
