It's all about the staff to be honest
Sure, the other stuff is important ... great chalets in fantastic locations, lovely food, reliable flights ... but our strength is our people. The host running your chalet, the driver in your vehicle and the ski host on the mountain will make or break your holiday; we do not take this responsibility lightly.
Finding the right people to look after you
Pip, Emily and Elle run recruitment during the summer. They will receive 1500 CVs again this year, interview 500 applicants and employ just 200 seasonal staff. They can afford to be choosy. Our colleagues tend to be more mature than most, the average age last year was 27, this too makes a difference. We look for people like us.
Why do people join us?
We hardly advertise any more, all of our applications are through word of mouth. We treat our staff with the same respect that we treat our customers. We are known for asking more of our colleagues than our competitors, but the reward is a product of which they can be furiously proud. In an increasingly confused world, pride is still the major driver towards excellent service and job satisfaction.
Of course we can tell you how fabulous our staff are, we've chosen them to wear our badge after all, but more importantly what did our guests think of our colleagues last winter. You can read a few snippets below, but we're now displaying feedback live on our website - CLICK here to see all our guest reviews
Aspen Lodge, Val d'Isere
Fantastic standard of service from everyone we met, coach transfers, concierge, Helen the Manager of Aspen and last but by no mean least Toby. He made what could have been a slightly sparse chalet (us 2 and one single other guest in an 8 bed chalet) a real home from home. We found him exceedingly personable and a delight to chat with. We wish him well for the rest of the season. Batterbury, Dec 12
CLUB Bellevarde, Val d'Isere
Ned and others in your team were particularly helpful when our youngest son had an accident and we would like to thank everyone who went to great lengths in this regard, as many of your staff did lots of things well beyond what we could have expected. So please pass on our thanks. Charlton, Dec 12
Chalet Brioche, Meribel

Refuge Boua, Meribel
Everyone in our group remarked on how Tom & Gareth made our holiday VIP, the resort, location and standard of the chalet were 1st class, but Tom and Gareth were the special touch that turned a good holiday into a VIP holiday. Please pass on the thanks of our whole group. You should be proud of their attention to detail and enthusiasm; they are a credit to your company. Hall, Jan 13
Hotel Montjola, St Anton
We were made to feel very welcome, the friendliness of a chalet but in hotel surroundings. The strong point of the holiday was the staff especially Klaus and the drivers and ski hosts who were able to sort out endless queries. The best birthday ever! Jones, Jan 13
Aspen Lodge, Val d'Isere
The week we had at Aspen Lodge in Val d'Isere was fabulous. The staff couldn't do enough to make our time any better. The Chalet Hosts Lucy and Sebastian were exceptional as were the nannies Linzay and Sophie. We will definitely be using VIP again and have told friends to book for next year. Middlemas, Dec 12
Chalet Du Bois, Morzine
First class in every respect. The chalet hosts Katy and Kevin could not have been more helpful and efficient. They made the holiday perfect for all our big family group, ranging from 3 years to 67 years! Phillips, Dec 12

Chalet Du Bois, Morzine

Valdez Suite, Morzine
We had a brilliant holiday. The chalet was lovely, and Steph was wonderful - a real credit to your company. She looked after us so well, was very friendly and good company for the week, her cakes were delicious and her meals too. In a small chalet she got the balance just right between being there and being in the background. All your resort staff were friendly and helpful. The chalet was of a good standard, with lots of home comforts. All the added extras such as the water/chocolate on the coach, the ski equipment delivered to the chalet, the luggage delivered to and taken from the chalet, the daily newspaper were much appreciated. Thank you. Campbell, Mar 13
Colleagues in London
Kate, Jenn, Becky, Megan, Sophie & Jess know their stuff. A walking Wikipedia of skiing, they know their chalets; they’ve bounced on the beds, bubbled in the hot tubs and walked to the piste in their ski boots. They are scrupulously honest and most importantly, they understand that we don’t want you to come away with us unless we are absolutely sure that you are going to want to come back with your friends. Friends in the Alps
Emily and Elle move to the Alps with their team in late October. We spend the best part of two months before you arrive trying to ensure that everyone understands what we are trying to do and empathises with our moral and financial commitment to you. By the time you arrive we want to be sure that everyone cares as much as we do.
Our Managers are extremely important in ensuring that your holiday lives up to both our standards and your expectations. They will meet you at the airport and accompany you back to the resort, deliver your lift pass and arrange any ski hire or lessons that you might require. They will keep an attentive but unobtrusive eye on your needs throughout the week. You will find them to be a mine of local information, extremely approachable and permanently accessible to ensure that you get the very best from your holiday.
As well as possessing a flair for entertaining and a genuine love of food, our chalet hosts are friendly, unflappable and exceptionally hard working. Having completed a rigorous pre-season training course, each host is encouraged to manage their chalet as if it were their own home. We find this engenders a commitment to your enjoyment and well-being which makes the atmosphere in our chalets quite different. Every one of us carries the experience and knowledge that we have acquired as a small successful business over the last 25 years. We are all proud to be part of VIP and really do look after you as we would like to be looked after ourselves.
Like smiling sat-navs on skis
Our hosts in St Anton, Verbier and Zermatt will guide you to the best snow, the shortest queues and the coldest beer. Pocket the piste map, forget about where you’re going and revel in the pure, heart-pumping pleasure of getting there.
It takes real skill to host rather than just lead, so we enlist the help of local ski schools and the British Association of Ski Patrollers to teach us about rescue, first-aid, mountain awareness and of course, how to be the perfect companion on the slopes. Our hosts are there not only to find the best snow but also to show you the early morning sun, the best lunch spot, the coldest beer and the quickest lifts. We recruit mature individuals with a warm personality so skiers and boarders are always encouraged and never intimidated. Hosting is available 3 days a week between Monday and Friday. Please note that our hosts are not instructors and should you want lessons, these should be arranged locally or in advance of your holiday. Ski hosting is no longer available in our French resorts.
