Read more…I will start with the negatives, there aren’t many. I found the town itself a bit too small and quiet. I’m past late night partying, but I do like a nice little bar straight off the slope for a bit of apres ski. There were no bars as such, only bars attached to hotels. But it wasn’t the end of the world. The ski/boot room is tiny, can only really fit one person in there to actually put boots on, and once there were a couple of people in there, that was it no room to get past. That’s really it on the negatives. Now here are the positives. The hotel itself was very nice, room was large and plenty of space. There always seemed to be hot water available. Food was delicious, hats off to our lovely Finnish female head chef and her team. We couldn’t have been any closer to the chair lift, so that was perfect. The fact that it was literally ski in, if brave enough to ski in around the back. But most of all for me were the staff. What a great bunch of guys and girls. Always approachable and friendly, I couldn’t fault any of them. Two of the guys took some of us on a guided ski run on the first day which was very helpful to get to know your bearings. I believe we were the first ones they had taken out. Great job by The young lads, James and hamza. They were very attentive to the groups needs, with one leading and the other staying at the rear. Always waiting for the slowest person to catch up with the group. They also asked us how we thought they were doing and if the pace was ok. Good job boys. As I say I couldn’t fault any of them, but I would like to maybe single out Hamza, he is a great lad and was most interactive with the guests. He was good fun to have around. So all in all it was a great week. The only reason I didn’t rate it as a 5 is because of the ski/boot room and the lack of apres ski bars. But overall I would like to say thank you to all involved. If it was Angus the hotel manager who selected the staff, I would like to say great job buddy. Cheers.

Read more…This was the best ski holiday experience ever for me as I wasn’t expecting to ski much due to having had an operation late last year with finishing Radiotherapy end of December.. Right from a quick flight, to sailing through arrivals with huge amount of luggage, skis, boots etc. Met with big smiles by VIP staff Stephan, Angus ( one of the managers) who just marked our bags, and the driver just whisked away our luggage from the airport door onto the bus. What a breeze, the journey was quick, Stephan &. Angus were so friendly on the bus gave us info about the resort, snow report, lift passes etc. They even had water & fruit on board. Upon arrival we were met by two other friendly managers Hamza & Anthony, keys were handed to us, quick form and our bags were brought up by them within 10 mins. The Abona suite bedrooms were to die for. Such luxury we’d never experienced, on a ski holiday. Beautiful spacious suite, with stunning bathroom, luxurious toiletries, two sinks... and gorgeous aromatherapy toiletries: just perfect. With towels on the bed nearly presented. Attention to detail was brilliant The location of the hotel was perfect, next to 3 lifts, and bus to St Anton, one way and to Lech the other, simply a dream Whilst travelling since early morning, we wanted a light bite for lunch so decided to go out, upon going downstairs we were surprised by a lunch laid out for us, amazing sandwiches, soup, fruits, and freshly made scones & cakes, tea, coffee..wow what a start.. Our skis and boots were safely stored in a heated boot room ! The day just got better, with a Champagne,Prosecco & Canapés welcome meeting, met all the staff, including Kay-Marie a charming manager.. Followed by a 4 course meal which was just awesome. The chef Elena, is such a talented lady, whom VIP SKI Alrberg Hotel St Christoph are so lucky to have on board. Wow, her meal choices, and the menu is like haute cuisine, so beautifully presented, always a fabulous choice to choose from.. thank you. Being a vegetarian, usually I get very basic food on ski holidays, but this was just amazing. Felt very spoilt & lucky. Accompanied by a choice of wines to choose from, and choice if cooked breakfast every morning on top of the usual items... Choosing what you’d like to eat the next day was a fabulous touch & idea! VIP Ski Chalets you certainly have kept TRUE TO A VIP EXPERIENCE Thank you The hotel staff were so helpful, nothing was too much Being nervous on the first day ( due to being unfit after my operation ) and my keen skier family who always left early to catch the first runs, I was so grateful to Stephan who after asking Angus, walked with my skis to get a ski pass and to the first ski run behind the hotel... such personal service ! Similarly, the next day I could ski after some snowfall, again I wanted to catch a bus, upon asking to help with my skis as I wasn’t sure about walking in my boots and carrying skis to the busstop outside, Hamza on duty, although hoovering kindly stopped, & helped me with my skis, even put them on the back of the bus. Wow. !! Thank you Hamza. I had some great skiing as I stopped when I needed to. Thanks to all the staff, including Greg, James, and the girls who all made our ski holiday so special Nothing was too much trouble for them... best location, best hotel, best food, best staff, fabulous skiing when I wanted to ski. We will book again with VIP Ski Chalet’s and will recommend Alrberg to everyone. Thank you again. Will miss you all and definitely the food. Yum Will post up some pics at a later date. Need to get them off another family member.... awesome hotel

Read more…Whilst the resort was very small and quiet it was just what we wanted. The hotel was situated right next to the ski shop and lift. Our room was magnificent, as was the food. The staff were all great... they were friendly, helpful and fun... and really helped to make it an excellent holiday. Thanks

Read more…Our hotel and staff were fabulous. From carrying our bags up to the rooms at the start - to drinking and cheering on the rugby in the bar at the end. Nothing was too much. Lovely personal attention. Alina the shy head chef and her team cooked up amazing food every day with an excellent vegetarian option for my wife. Located within jumping distance from the St Christoph chair lift, access to the pistes couldn’t have been better. An awesome holiday and easy 10 out of 10 recommend.

Read more…This was our first time with VIP ski and you had been recommended whole heartedly by friends. I think this, coupled with your photos and descriptions meant there was an initial ‘disappointment’ that it was not as ‘polished’ and ‘special’ as we were expecting. This hotel is in a great spot and yet it manages to create a rather cold ‘6th form common room’ sort of ambiance in the social spaces. This is in part to do with the temperature ( not cosy enough) the lighting (often too bright and harsh) and the fact that the bar area was invariably dominated by the staff. It lacks a special warm inviting atmosphere and a lack of a fireplace is a significant omission. There are a lot of staff, some friendly and interesting but some decidedly scruffy and not as engaging. I’m not sure what the VIP staff dress code is; it was impossible to know. Clearly there are no standards for footwear! (A deliberate young cool doody relaxed vibe for staff can work very well but this felt like an accidental mishmash. ) In a hotel you expect the staff to be fully trained and professional in appearance too. On the Austrian night staff served in waist coats and looked like they had made an effort to be smarter, but this was just one night. The food was generally good and yet the meal times often felt very rushed. Our time in the dining room seemed to be dictated by the staff need to set up for breakfast and the service was not well paced. An over-seeing member of staff to check that things were as they should be seemed to be missing and hence guests were sometimes chasing some basic stuff . Mistakes happen but at times it all felt a bit chaotic. Communication between staff seemed to break down at times, hence early morning tea orders, for example, got in a complete muddle... this is pretty basic stuff! It is disappointing that we were disappointed with certain aspects of VIP and had to witness other guests getting frustrated with stuff too. We had a wonderful holiday on the slopes as the skiing, the weather, the ski hire and the position of the hotel all made for an excellent week But I didn’t feel like a VIP in the hotel. Sorry to report on these negatives, and I would like to have a response please. And no we didn’t raise stuff in resort ( I know others did) because I really didn’t want to waste energy or time on this during our holiday. Many staff were trying their best but this is a hotel lacking in some strong imaginative leadership to turn this into a slick operation and help negate some of the problems with the fabric of the building And so I am sad to report that something was definitely missing. .
Thank you for your feedback Debbie. I'm extremely sorry to hear that we failed to deliver the holiday you were expecting. Our Operations Director will certainly be in touch with you to discuss this in more depth. Lottie, Marketing Assistant

Read more…We went on a VIP holiday 12 years ago and had amazing service, but this holiday was not the same at all. It was all ok, but really not the same as we had expected from previous trip which had been to Morzine. St Christoph is small and the linking of the area was not possible due to weather and the lifts. We were an experienced group, but the slopes were very unkept and if you were a beginner would have been terrible.

Read more…It’s been an awesome family holiday in this beautiful traditional chalet. This was the first week of the season in a new chalet for VIP and with a new team. Frank your team have been absolutely superb. Nothing has been too much trouble and they have all worked really hard to ensure every question was answered and actions followed up. The rooms were delightfully rustic, comfortable and maintained to a high standard. We all loved the early morning tea with a view of the slopes, and returning to homemade cakes and gluwien in the cosy bar in the evenings. Interesting varied menus for evening meals. We particularly enjoyed venison, fish and the Austrian evening. The chalet caters fabulously for children, one of our criteria for choosing it. The nannies were always willing to help and even provided a toy box for “Granny’s room”. Children’s meals were a great help. St Christoph is a tiny but beautiful quiet village set in the middle of this vast ski area with ski lifts and regular buses on the doorstep. We loved skiing across to the other villages. Definitely take the cable car to Valluga on a sunny day! Being the highest village the ski runs to the chalet had more snow than other villages. We were very fortunate to have both sunshine and excellent snow this early in the season. Ski hire equipment was excellent quality and located next door. The nursery slopes were great for beginners, if not very extensive. Instructors were very friendly and helpful, especially with the children. Some of the blue runs were quite steep for beginners so it is perhaps better for 2nd time skiers. We can highly recommend a sleigh ride from Lech to either Zürs or Zug. Book early! Stunning views and the children loved it. Overall it was a truly wonderful, happy and exhilarating week for us all. We loved St Christoph and our chalet. We can’t thank you enough VIP team and look forward to another holiday with you soon.

Read more…The hotel Arlberg is situated next to the piste in St Christoph, literally 20 metres from piste to boot room. Being centrally located means getting to places such as Lech or St Anton is so easy so top marks on ski location. The staff as usual are up to the VIP standard and nothing was too much trouble. Travelling alone it was refreshing to have a chatty barman in Stefan who was genuinely interested in people’s days. Food was excellent as was the accompanying wine with dinner and always served with a smile by Rachel who got the short straw to look after me. . All in all a great addition to the VIP stable.
