They'll need to cool off...

Fri July 03, 2015

Get the strawberries and cream out and sit in the sunshine - it’s Pimms O’clock. Murray has won his second match and we are 100% backing him this Wimbledon. This got us thinking….

1. Novak Djokovic

Djokovic is a fun and loving character so we’d send him to St Anton. This Austrian ski resort is charming with friendly locals and great après ski. For the world number one we feel he definitely deserves to enjoy his time off with live music.

2. Roger Federer

Born in Switzerland and being one of the greatest tennis players in history, we would have to send Federer to Zermatt. This is a snow sure and super-chic Alpine village with a car-free policy and has plenty of activities for this family man.

3. Andy Murray

Murray has great athletic endurance and so we think his ski holiday should be in La Plagne. La Plagne has an expansive ski area with plenty of variety for all abilities, this is right up Andy’s street. He once bought a Ferrari but later sold it because he thought it "too flash" and we feel La Plagne has the same understated modesty.

4. Stan Wawrinka

Wawrinka, like Federer is of Swiss nationality so we feel Verbier would be the resort for him as its close to home. Wawrinka is up for a challenge, beating the likes of Djokovic of Nadal to get his two grand slam wins, compares nicely to the challenges the itinerary runs of Mont Fort, Tortin and col de gentians have to offer.

5. Kei Nishikori

Nishikori, a 24 year old Japanese player, is known for both speed and endurance. We would send him in Avoriaz, there is plenty to do in this resort and an expansive ski area to try and tire him out with. Our chalet is called Poudreuse meaning powder which is what the Japanese ski resorts are known for.

1. Serena Williams

The queen of the court, Serena is a really family orientated woman. That’s why Les Gets would be a fabulous resort for her. With authentic family atmosphere, plenty of shops, this is a popular choice for family skiing. With the local cheese and regional wine in the local markets, she might never want to get back on the courts.

2. Petra Kvitova

Petra is one of the most talked about tennis players and so is Meribel with its amazing skiing on offer. At 6ft tall she will fit in with this high altitude resort. It is also a great place for non-skiers and will be perfect for her ice hockey playing boyfriend, with its Olympic ice rink.

3. Simona Halep

Val d’Isere is a perfect resort for Halep. Named the greatest ski resort in the world and practically limitless skiing and breath-taking surroundings, there are plenty of similarities between the resort and this silent tennis player who moves smoothly around the court in a no-nonsense kind of matter. Her style of play is rare and admired by all those who watch the game, comparable to Val d’Isères character and charm.

4. Maria Sharapova

Growing up in Russia we think this ice princess needs an impressive glacier like Alpe d’huez has to offer. Sharapova's beauty and popular appeal have led to major commercial endorsements, likewise with Alpe d’Huez being the ‘island of sunshine’ and having spectacular panoramic views.

5. Caroline Wozniacki

Wozniacki is great friends with Serena Williams so we feel Morzine is the place for her as it is the neighbouring resort to Les Gets. Her brother is also a professional football player and this resort is great for summer and winter activities. The town itself is welcoming and familiar and would be great for this rising tennis star.
