The right flight for half-term ski holidays
Fri November 02, 2018
Half term is a red-letter date in the VIP SKI calendar. We’ll be welcoming families in almost all our chalets, from tiny tots taking their first tentative steps on skis to teenagers who can ski rings around their parents. Skiing can’t be beaten for a family holiday, which is why we’re thrilled to have secured extra flight seats for this peak holiday date. Our MD, Andy Sturt, took a moment to fill us in:
"Demand for half-term is huge next year and so we are delighted to announce that we have chartered an exclusive British Airways Embraer aircraft with only 98 seats in a 2+2 configuration to supplement our other flying on 17 February. Not only that but we have secured a family friendly take-off time of 11.35, so there will be time for breakfast and a leisurely Sunday morning drive to Stansted without any of the usual traffic headaches. It gets better …. we’ve found slots at Chambery so we can fly you bang into the heart of the Alps with a minimum transfer time to all of our resorts. Comfy flying at a sensible time of the day to the heart of the Alps … there must be a catch, well yes there is, only 98 seats, call quick."
You've made it to France, now where?
From Chambery it’s a short transfer to Val d’Isere, Courchevel, Meribel or Alpe D’Huez, all of which are family-friendly ski resorts with plenty of activities to keep the whole gang entertained before and after skiing. Alpe D’Huez is close to selling out but we still have availability in Chalet La Ferme, located so close to the piste you could almost ski right through the front door and onto the sofa. Smaller groups will be right at home in Grand Choucas or Petit Choucas in Val d’Isere, both of which benefit from additional bunk rooms where children stay for half price. Or look at Meribel and Courchevel for endless pistes in the huge Three Valleys ski area. Boredom is simply not an option when there’s over 600km of skiing to enjoy.
What about everything else?
Don’t forget to book your extras before you depart. Ski schools fill up quickly at half term and the best rental skis go quickly. We can pre-book everything, from valet parking to childcare, so take advantage and sort all the extras before you leave. Then sit back, relax and count down the days until you’re on the slopes! There’s plenty more information about how to make a family ski holiday as easy as possible here.
