Regarded by many as the greatest ski resort in the world, Val d’Isere imposes traditional Savoyarde architecture on an awe-inspiring high mountain setting. The vast expanse of L’Espace Killy, comprising Val d’Isere and neighbouring Tignes, is the highest extended ski domain in the world. The clientele is as varied as the terrain, from dedicated powder hounds and off-piste adrenalin junkies to blue cruisers and ladies who lunch.

Most of the skiing is at 2300 metres and above and, not surprisingly, the resort has an unrivalled snow record. There is plenty of skiing on your doorstep to keep all but the most advanced occupied for at least a week, but the temptations of Tignes and the views from the top of the Grand Motte at over 3600 metres are simply unmissable and only a few lifts away. Apres-ski begins before you’ve come off the mountain with live music at the Folie Douce above La Daille, or ski to the door of Bananas in the centre of town. There are bars, pubs and clubs which rock long into the night for those with unlimited stamina and deep pockets, plus a range of pampering body treatments and shops for those who prefer to conserve their energy for the slopes.

Val d’Isere offers a wealth of activities for both the non-skier and those wanting some alternative entertainment after a day on the mountain. Our resort staff will have further details and would be able to assist you in booking.

Snowmobile / Skidooing

The snow scooter is a fantastic way to get around, offering an exhilarating experience in a safe environment accessible to both adults and children, no driving license is required. These outings enable you to discover the different dimensions of snow mobile driving. Either be the driver, or if that doesn’t suit you then take the opportunity to be the passenger.

Husky Sleigh Rides

Get a taste of Alaska on a husky powered sledge whilst taking in the breathtaking mountain scenery.

Ice driving Circuit

Go karts and cars! The perfect way to have fun on the ice! Dependant on weather conditions, the circuit is open from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 20.00. The circuit is located between Val d’Isere and La Daille in the Les Crets area.

Parapenting / Handgliding

Realise mankind’s oldest dream, soaring above the mountains in total freedom. Take a flight in a dual harness with a qualified instructor from one of the many ideal sites in the Espace Killy.

Ice Diving

Explore the underside of the ice covering the local Tignes mountain lakes. You will go down through a hole cut in the ice (always tethered to the surface – you won’t get lost!) and spend around 15 minutes by the side of the instructor, exploring the magical ice formations. No previous diving experience is necessary, all divers however, must be a minimum height of 1m50.

Ice Climbing

For the true mountain enthusiast, why not scale an amazing frozen waterfall? The waterfall is located at the entrance of Val d’Isère and is 40m wide and 200m high. A mountain guide will teach you the basics of climbing with the aid of ice axes and crampons. During the day by sunlight, or at night by floodlight.

Helicopter Rides

A real once in a lifetime experience! Hover around the Espace Killy or tour around the Olympic resorts in a helicopter, marveling at the wonderful scenery beneath you.

Snake Gliss

Finally available to earthlings, these contraptions from the future, resembling something between a bobsleigh and a tramway, may be enjoyed with no-limits in groups of 2 to 20 people. These bizarre sledges that couple together may be enjoyed by all ages from 7 to 77 years. Gloves are compulsory and ski boots are not allowed. It takes place late afternoon on the Savonnette Nursery slope.
