Directions from Calais to Méribel. It is approximately 560 miles from Calais with a travelling time of approximately 10-11 hours. Below are suggested itineraries using toll-paying autoroutes. French autoroute tolls amount to approximately €80 each way, varying a little depending on your destination and route. If you use the Swiss motorway you must buy a permit sticker (Vignette) costing approximately 50Sfr (valid for one year).

 A good European map is indispensable.

Basic Itinerary:

• Take the A26 from Calais to Reims & Troyes
• The A26 becomes the A5 to Langres
• The A5 becomes the A31 to Dijon
• Take the A39 to Bourg-en-Bresse
• Join the A40 towards Geneva
• Turn off onto the A42 to Lyon
• Take A43 from Lyon to Chambéry and Albertville
• Follow signs for Albertville, Moutiers and finally Méribel.

• Valid Road Tax
• Insurance Papers (With Green Card if required)
• GB sticker
• Warning triangle
• Reflective vest
• Beam deflectors

Also recommended by motoring organisations (and in some cases a legal requirement) for continental travel in winter are the following items: Small spares kit, fire extinguisher, spare keys, makers handbook, spare bulbs, snow chains & shovel.

Chalet Mariefleur, Marielaine, Brioche & Altair - As you approach Méribel, you will pass a Peugeot garage on your left followed by a sign for Mussillon, (also on the left). After the Mussillon sign, turn left directly after the 5th lamppost, up a gravel driveway to a cul de sac of 3 buildings. Chalet Mariefleur is the dark coloured wooden chalet directly in front of you. Chalet Marielaine and Chalet Brioche are the dark coloured wooden chalet on the right. Chalet Altair is the light coloured wooden chalet on the left.

Taiga Lodge & Indiana Lodge - Follow the main road through Méribel passing the turning on the left towards the Altiport. The road heads down hill towards the Patinoire (Ice Rink) and Gendarmerie. At the bottom of the hill, (before you reach the Patinoire), you will see a large car park on the right and yellow signs for further car parks on the left. Turn right under the télécabine wires up a winding hill. The Taiga Lodge and Indianna Lodge are the last two chalets up the hill at the top of a short gravel driveway, Taiga on the right and Indiana on the left.

Kublai Lodge - Take the wide turning on your left after Spar (supermarket), direction Altiport and Belvedere. At the top of this road turn left in the direction “Golf”. Continue up the hill through “Morel”. Chalet Kublai is situated off the road, on the left hand side, after the third hairpin (the first hairpin being where the restaurant/bar ‘Chez Kiki’ is located) and before a set of 7 lock-up garages.  The chalet has the name “Chalet Murger” on its wall.

Chalet Mira Belum -  Take the wide turning on your left after Spar (supermarket), direction Altiport and Belvedere. At the top of the road turn right in the direction of Méribel Centre. Take the turning on the left after 20m and follow the road up. Chalet Mira Bellum is the chalet at the top of this road.
